henriquez i believe is next. and than its a toss up really. i know everyone is trying to get there rosters situated and slimmed down and not many trades happen thveis time of year. But i am almost certain morey is trying to pull a 2for1 trade. it gets interesting to see if camby stays and how healthy he is and how much faith we have in him. if camby stays than smith is gone, if camby gets cut smith stays. dont be suprised to see a trade for a minor upgrade/fit for our offense. something like smith/jones for novak or ppat along with a future pick. i think brooks gets cut also. so my cut prediction is (young), henriquez, brooks, williams. my trade prediction is jones/smith to toronto for novak/2nd and (young)/henriquez/williams being cut.
Whether you agree with them or not, their motives are for what they believe is best for the team. Your motives are for what I guess is the best opportunity for 1 player to put up the best stats as possible, quality of team be damned. This is a team sport, go watch tennis or golf.
Well, I'm just agreeing with them, if they think it's best for the team, so it might turn out also best for Lin.
In another season I'd guess Brooks would be one. But as we are in "win now" mode, I think the development project players are more likely to be cut and vets are more likely to stay. Question: "Can he give us anything in the playoffs?" If no, he's a candidate to be cut. Second what someone said on Casspi: McHale mentioned him several times possibly playing at the 4.
They'll keep Camby as long as possible simply for the knowledge and influence he can share with the young bigs. I think he transitions into coaching role and will not be on active roster.
Canaan can play I am sure but he could not show it in Summer League and I guess Brooks has a point to stay. Nothing has changed. Canaan is projected to play next season.
Are you sure that is what Lin really wants? I don't know if he wants to leave a contender especially if he's starting. He always seems the type that values winning. Also not sure if he wants to uproot his life again and start over on a new team.
They'll cut Henriquez. Then they'll cut one of Brewer/Williams. The last cut will be tough, it will probably be Camby, Brooks, or (maybe) Smith. Like others have said, wouldn't be surprised if there's a Smith for a pick deal in place.
bad trade Jones is a mid first rounder and smith as of now high second rounder for practically two second rounders, Novak being one? We do not need Novak's shooting that bad
Why is so hard to imagine cutting Covington? I know he has potential but he hasn't actually played an NBA game and we are in Win now mode?! I guess it's Royce White is Lebron James light all over again. Brewer, Williams, Brooks are veterans and therefore ahead of Covington, Henriquez. Canaan hasn't played an NBA game either but he is sure to stay for now. Covington, Henriquez, Williams for now. Casspi, Brewer, Brooks if they must in the next group. Greg Smith is a filler in a trade as are Donatas and Jones.
My guess is Greg Smith will be packaged with Reggie Williams and/or Ronnie Brewer for picks/considerations. Henriquez is definitely going to be cut.
That's illegal under the CBA. Newly signed free agents have a trade moratorium. Williams and Brewer can't be traded before December 15th. The team needs to be trimmed down to 15 by the start of the season before then.
pre-season has just begun & 'win-now-mode' has already been worn to a frazzle. striking while the iron is hot doesn't mean abandoning the future.
