Rockets lost badly. They sucked. Francis, Mobley, Yao, and Mo Taylor could not shoot. Only Posey did good. Everything has been going wrong for the Rockets. Eddie actually did all right. The Rockets just sucked. That 2nd quarter...when we had Moochie, Rice, Griffin, and Cato, and Mobley screwed everything up. Astros lost too. Pheonix will not lose. AND THEN ON ESPN whatever the heck they call it. The black guy and the white guy both said that Amare should be the Rookie of the Year. WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?
Tim Legler and Greg Anthony have been going back and forth all freaking season, Kevin Frasier is the only one that has constantly picked one player, Yao Ming. Legler just goes with whoever had the hottest game that week, same with Anthony. God I'm so ****ing pissed right now, My school loses in baseball 3-11, Astros lose 1-2, and now the Roxkets lose 81-66.
Well Amare's having a bad night as well, 1-7, 3 points, and 4 boards, at least his team is winning though.
I am watching the Suns/Nuggets game right now and Amare is not helping his ROY hopes any more than Yao did by going 1-7 FG, 1-4 FT (3 Pts) 2 TO's with 5 rebounds with 6 minutes left in the 4th.
Oops, you beat me to it. Anyways, Amare looks very ordinary tonight. I bet he has some heavy legs at this point in the season. The Nugget commentators were discussing the ROY race and the color commentator seemed to hedge towards Yao when the intangiables were factored in.
Actually, it was Sean Elliot who agreed with Legler. Both gave pretty lame arguments; it sounded like they're on the avoid-the-Yao-bandwagon bandwagon.
sad day for Houston sports fans.... Not even the Astros could pull me out of this depression tonight. They let me down too. waaaaaaaaa
Name me one Rocket who has ever had Sabonis' number. Name me one player who has. As Sabonis opponents, we're just blessed he can't play more minutes. I swear there's not a man that big with a purer shot. Or a man that big with better instincts for the game. If he had legs he'd be the closest thing to a Shaq stopper. Yao's still ROY. Nothing's happened to compromise that. And we were probably supposed to lose this game, though certainly not in such an ugly fashion. The defense was encouraging though. Next step, we probably have to win all our games on account of Phoenix damning expectations lately. If you just look at the over/under we still have the favorable schedule (since we own the tiebreaker), but the way things are going you can half expect Pho to win games they shouldn't and Rox to lose games they shouldn't. If we win in Utah I'll almost feel like we can control our destiny by winning the next three we're supposed to win. But Phoenix is still ahead in the loss column and there's nothing to say they can't exceed expectations. They've been doing it lately while we haven't. Either way though: Yao's ROY. That's done and done.
Hakeem, being the greatest Rocket ever and also being a league MVP, certainly played him to a standstill on a regular basis, but it would be an exaggeration to say he had his number. Sabonis gave him fits too.
sabonis was simply an amazing monster before he got injured. in his younger years, i don't think anybody (including shaq) in the world can stop him. for those who know little about sabonis, here are a few clips about the man. young sabonis
No doubt, Yao had much better games... but Yao never gets a good a perspective free of bad perspectives ie. Yao plays poorly, oh he's hit the wall, 'experts' had said this twice...Stoudemire on the other hand has IMO many stretches where he is played poor, tonights game against the nuggets was not the first, yet no critic coins a negative phrase about him... ie. Yao's critics and Stoudemire fans says Yao gets all the hype, well hello, remember the first half of the season - Yao was labeled a bust, he was ridiculed, Yao had to play out of this world in a guard oriented team to counteract all those ridiculous slams - and yet, the same critics say he gets all the hype - as if he was bestowed upon it, the truth of the matter is he has earned every once of his praise. ie. I find it hilarious, that the people that said the CBA (where Yao played before) sucked now say well, at least Yao played professionally, Amare went straight to the L from High School
All are good points. When Yao was in the draft, people were clamoring that American HIGH SCHOOL competition was better than the Chinese pro league. Now all of a sudden, the Chinese pro league is on par with the american CBA or something? People will make double standards and contradict themselves, for the sake of hating on Yao.
I still think our better high-school teams are better than the CBA, but you have to look at the ages when comparing the 2 and making excuses. Amare shows more agression, heart, desire to get to the rim and throw the ball down than Yao has shown. It is in his head not to be stopped regardless of who is there, where as Yao is content with what they give him. This is the big differrence between the two when talking about potential. Amare is 20 and can be taught the fundamentals, where as Yao is 23 and knows the fundamentals, but does not have that inner drive or heart to make him be great. This cannot be taught. It is either in you or not, and Yao does not have it. If Yao had went to an American school, he would not have been the number 1 pick, because he would have already been exposed. He is still living off his hype and has yet to show that he can be dominate or make his team or teammates better. Amare has shown these things. He does not make them better by passing to them for open looks, but he has by giving them the confidence that if they put up a shot and miss, he will get the rebound and dare someone to stop him when he goes back up. Yao does not make his teammates better by passing or dominating the boards and the paint. I have said it a couple of times but look at the records. We had a better record two years ago without Yao when everyone was healthy. The Suns had no major injuries last year and are a much better team with Amare this year.
Amare was born at 11/16.82 and Yao 9/12/80. So Amare is 20 and Yao 22, or Amare 21 and Yao 23. Can you calculate?
