For those of you interested in Chinese Horoscopes, here's what I can roughly dig out about the Elemental values (i.e. Soil, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire) based on chinese horoscope calculations for our players - those of you keen to find out more about yourself you may checkout the calculator here: http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/CFTCal2.htm For our predicted "starters" (yeah I know it may change) - it goes something like this: JLin 90-170-60-27-22 (Soil-Metal-Water-Wood-Fire) JHarden 131-46-55-8-69 CParsons 72-92-105-27-42 OAsik 112-30-24-55-154 DHoward 48-40-118-105-33 Combined 453-378-362-222-320 So what does this say? It mainly lets us know that our team is weak in the Wood element (222) and strong in the Soil element (453) The issue for the chinese is about balance, so essentially, it simply means our team will fair their best performance during days when the Soil element is weak (team brings balance) or when days when Wood element is strong - and fair worst during days when Wood element is weak or soil element is strong. So take for example a day like 30 Oct (1st game) - the days elements is roughly 144-79-45-22-55 - not exactly the best of days for the Rockets as a team - although this kind of days will be the one for Dwight to excel in. Overall, it would be advisable for McHale to plan to rely on Strong Wood element players in his arsenal e.g. Camby (158) and Brewer (126) in place of Asik i.e. the first game may not be the best days to try the twin towers. Having someone like Camby ready to step in may make good sense....
This is the most detailed questionable Rockets study I've seen. Although I'd like to make fun of this, I hope you will continue posting horoscope predictions in comparison with actual results. In fact, can you go to last year and see how effective horoscopes are in predicting performances? Thanks for your time.

That horoscope value is suspicious. How can Asik score so low in wood with those 2x4-planks-for-hands of his? What about Lin's soil value in comparison to his bricks? How can Harden's second highest stat be fire when his beard is flammable and yet still in tact? Is Parson's flat jumper really that wet, or is his water values skewed by the amount of wet panties in his proximity? I think you've miscalculated.
Good idea bob, I will explore that (we have some time to kill anyway before the actual season start) - any how here's my predictions of how our rocket players would fare (please note just because our players fair well doesn't automatically mean we win every game - sigh although I do wish it were so) Please take these with some grains of salt as in theory I'm supposed to make use of their birthtimes to get the more accurate calculations (but it's quite tough trying to find the birth times/place of our players) According to what I could decipher of the chinese horoscopes (being a half-baked astrologist)..... please note the W/L are my best guess and is no guarantee of things happening that way..... Game 1 - Oct 30 against the Bobcats, Howard and Parsons would give good performances, Harden and Lin are likely to be marked closely. L - first game jitters probably. Game 2 - Nov 1 against the Mavs, Parsons, Howard and Asik will reap us the dividends. Mavs first time encountering our try at twin towers have no idea what to do against either Howard or Asik. W Game 3 - Nov 2 against the Jazz, Lin and Howard start to click in this game. L. Game 4 - Nov 4 against the Clippers, like the Mavs, the clippers are quite confounded by the Howard-Asik combo with Parsons helping out in this game. W Game 5 - Nov 5 against the Blazers, Blazers did their homework to guard Howard closely, but Lin and Asik somehow manages to work well together. L - asik lin combo still not likely to be good enough for a win. Game 6 - Nov 7 against the Lakers, Harden, Lin and Asik destroys the Lakers despite them game-planning against Howard. W Game 7 - Nov 9 against the Clippers, Clippers learnt their lesson and shuts down Howard, but the Asik, Harden and Lin trio does the damage. W Game 8 - Nov 11 against the Raptors, again our opponents game-plan against Howard, only to get hammered by Harden, Asik and Lin. W Game 9 - Nov 13 against the 76ers, Lin, Asik and Harden once again holding fort. W Game 10 - Nov 14 against the Knicks, Knicks know Lin too well, so Lin gets shut down, but Harden was able to work well with Asik. L - harden asik combo also not likely to hold the fort. Game 11 - Nov 16 against the Nuggets, Lin, Harden and Asik should run rings around the Nuggets. W Game 12 - Nov 19 against the Celtics, Asik, Lin and Harden again. W Game 13 - Nov 20 against the Mavs, Harden, Asik and Lin again to try their best against the Mavs - tough one this. W Game 14 - Nov 23 against the Timberwolves, Lin, Asik and Harden again. Asik is predicted to taper off towards the end of season but Parsons is the reverse (started off slow but peaks at the end of the season - which is probably good for his value). Maybe, just maybe DM would get a good deal for Asik during the mid-term break.....
Okay bob, I did a quick compare using last season's results, turns out that the predictions were only about 59% accuracy, so not that much better than a 50/50 guessing.... So I wouldn't advice anyone to try to rely on my predictions for their gambles..... It's more to kill some time before the new season starts in roughly 46 more days..... Or for those watching from training ... It's only 16 more days before our rockets start team training ... Go Rockets!!!
