I agree, now let's list the things that Francis is good at:
    1. He is very good a turnovers (see 2)
    2. He is very good at ill-timed, telegraphed, lazy passes
    3. He is good at not playing defense
    4. He is good at not making good decisions
    5. He is good at not being a playmaker
    6. He is good at ignoring or not seeing wide open players
    7. He is good at skipping over the mid stripe when we are losing.
    8. He is good at giving "what did he say?" interviews.
    9. He is good at dribbling forever (see 10)
    10. He is good at walking the ball up the floor and running out the timeclock.
    11. He is good at making an easy shot difficult.
    12. He is good at maintaining his stats at the expense of the team.
    13. He is good at "trying" to go one on four.
    14. He is good at creating at "All Star" image around the league, but as the Rockets continue to flounder and Ming is "iced out" that image will fade.
It IS true, Francis is good, not great!

One thing most GMs know that you probably dont is that the fellas you want to compare Steve with all make over 12million a year..Steve 4.3 million. Steves only in his 4th year and is on pace to reach the level of those guys..all franchise players.
Steve reaches the 12 million salary level in 2006 ..compare then.

I'm Chinese and am very proud of Yao. However, guys like Yetti who would urinate on Steve just to compliment Yao almost make me want to root against Yao. It's a disgusting feeling.

Steve is good but not great. Kobe is better than Steve. What is the use of posting that? Sounds like people from China or Chinese-Americans downgrading Steve to make Yao look better. Absolutely disgusting.

You may be right gr8-1, but answer this question:

If Francis is so "AWESOME" as Tonaaayyyy puts it, then why was he passed up by Mike Bibby as THE point guard for TEAM USA? (who btw, are considered the ELITE)

Answer: because Francis is good, not GREAT........yet ;)

He's gotta PROVE it by giving us a playoff run! duh.

 Any chance that you're not a Rox fan? You are so biased that you thought Steve would have 30 ppg and 10 apg on any other team other than Rox right? Sorry but Steve-only fans are as bad and annoying as Yao-only fans.

Shaq, Kobe, T-Mac, KG and Duncan are the unanimous top 5 players in the league. Kidd, Dirk, AI, Pierce and Webber are probably next in the line. Francis, Marbury etc follows. So I say Francis is about top 11 or top 12, at best top 10, no way top 5.

If you can't see it, you're not a NBA fan.

First of all, c'mon -- how many Steve Francis-only fans do you think there really are? *lol* Franchise is constantly hated (after a Rockets loss) then loved again (after a win) that it's somewhat refreshing to get a Francis-only fan if you know what I mean. Secondly, is it any coincidence that the guys in your top five-ten have all been in the playoffs and performed @ a high level @ that level? Nope. That's why it's my opinion that Francis won't be a top 10 player until his team(s) reach the playoffs and he steps his game up accordingly @ that level as well.

In the words of Kenny Smith, whom got these words from a former NBA player who's name doesn't come to mind, "Every player puts up great numbers in the regular season...that's why you have so many All-Star players. The regular season gives you the name. The post-season gives you the fame."

There are good players, then great players, then elite players. Francis is not an elite player, IMO. But, he is a great player.

While I agree w/the playoff thing, the rest of your argument is VERY weak! There are A LOT of great players being passed over for the 2004 Olympic squad. Iverson (big hoopla about it for months now), Pierce, Jermaine O'Neal, Francis to name a few. Are these players not great? Of course they are. And there are a lot of basketball "experts" who make cases for reasons why Francis should be on the olympic team, but they are quick to point out that the OC is not looking to assemble the TOP 12 players in the NBA per se, but also get some players that fit, compliment the team well -- like a Mike Bibby.

Amazing players (best of the elite--in no order):
    Shaq
    Duncan
    Garnet
    Kobe
    T-Mac

Other great/franchise players (next best, in no order)
    Nowitzki
    Kidd
    Payton
    Pierce
    Webber
    Iverson

    Borderline franchise, still great players
Francis (personally I think he is the best of this group, I'd put him at #12 overall)
    Marbury
    Marion
    Jermaine O'neal
Ben Wallace (hard to figure his total impact--I think it is more than most realize)
    Ray Allen

Very good, but clearly not franchise players
    Peja
    Davis
    Mashburn
    Rasheed
    Jamison
    Brand
    Walker
    Hamilton
    Nash
    Finley
    Malone
    SAR
    Yao (currently, unlimited ceiling though)
    Stackhouse
    Gasol
    Carter

Some other good-to very good players, but below most of above (non-inclusive list)
    Lewis
    Rose
    Mobley
    Terry
    Houston
    Spree
    Bibby
    Stockton
    McDyes (until proven otherwise)
    Ricky Davis
    Arenas
    Martin
    Cassell
    A. Davis
    Ilgauskas

This is pure ridiculous, the only reason y dream team take a 2nd or 3rd class player like Mbibby is b/c they need someone to just fit the team and take less shots

This is NOT ridiculous! If you think about it, GREAT players are those that are TEAM players and "fit"! In my opinion, the only way to win a championship is if we get more ROLE players that "fit"! Francis is trying to play point, but is really playing point and shooting guard.

Want a good example of a good role player? Robert Horry! Why do you think the rings follow him where ever he goes? ;)

Do you think they passed up any GREAT players in the first Dream Team?? NO! They choose the very best TEAM players. That was exactly the reason why I started this thread. Francis is a good player, but when it comes to leading his team, he is immature.
