What's your point, so now Minnesota is near Sacramento, Oakland, Seattle, and Portland according to you. Who gives a crap about where it is considered to be, the point is you have team that has to travel to friggin time zones and over 2000 miles to play anyone in their conference. Are you telling me that makes sense.

Would the "American Conference" have a designated free-throw shooter? Or a blocker who can only stand in the lane but is 9 feet tall?
Or would the "National Conference" just be at a disadvantage, having their worst free-throw shooter shooting each one?

NEW YORK, April 8 – NBA Commissioner David Stern announced today that the NBA Board of Governors has approved the move of the New Orleans Hornets to the Midwest Division of the Western Conference, beginning with either the 2003-04 or 2004-05 season.
The Board also approved the placement of the Charlotte expansion franchise in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference, when the team begins play in the 2004-05 season.

As part of the Board approval, New Orleans has the option of moving to the Western Conference at the start of the 2003-04 or 2004-05 NBA season. New Orleans must inform the NBA by May 1 if it intends to move to the Western Conference for the 2003-04 season.

I'm guessing the Hornets will prefer to stay in the east as long as possible.

Just great...the west gets tougher, while the east gets a crappy expansion team.

Living in Minnesota I thought that I should speak on this topic. Minnesota has a geographical rivalry with Chicago and Wisconsin (Milwaukee) similar to the rivalry shared between H-town, San An, and Dallas. They genuinly dislike one another. It used to be the black and blue division in football for a reason. I agree with the poster that suggested that the Wolves replace Cleveland in a division with Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana and Detroit. Oh and BTW, Minnesota (the city not necessarily the team) sux.

Minneapolis/St. Paul sux. Don't blame me for getting confused for a minute. There's Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnetonka, Minnehaha, Minnetrista, Minnewaska, just to name a few. I'm telling you. This place Minnesuxone.

Geez the West is packed with pg's now. How is Steve gonna make the all star team. We've got Steve, Miller, Davis, Marbury, not to mention Stockton and if Kidd or Payton comes to a western team. The West is downright loaded now.

Minnesota sort of suffers most, but I'd say we're in the toughest division. We welcome New Orleans to our division? Ugh.

    I wouldn't be that pessimistic.

By then, the Rockets just might be competitive.

i would trade the eastern conference minnesota and memphis(theyre gonna be competitive, too in a couple years) for new orleans. they can also get the new expansion franchise.

    thats a fair trade.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Yeah, give Minnesota back its name.

    LA can be "The Smog".

Considering San Diego lost 2 teams and predictingt hat the CLippers will move again, call the Clippers franchise "The Nomads".
