Pretty sure I just saw a two handed dunk from Luis Scola.... not sure if Luis has a younger cousin or something...Maybe its his brother Zuis Scola. I had to do a double take on that one.
I remember posters here giving a lot of heat to Dragić during the everlasting Lowry-Lin-Dragić debate, after Gortat publicly called him out for not feeding him the ball more often. Now, Gortat is the first option for Poland and he seems to live in a fantasy world where he's a superstar. He is taking ridiculous midrange fadeaways, ignoring teammates and playing for his stat line only. I also remember Gortat saying that he's happy in Phoenix because his salary is nice and that he doesn't care about winning. Before Eurobasket, he told the media that he's going to be the tournament MVP and lead Poland to a medal or at least the next World Championships (top 7 finish). Well, Poland is currently looking at a 0-3 record and has been eliminated from the competition. On the other hand, Dragić is dominating and playing like a true Eurobasket MVP.
Btw, for those guys watching games on bad streams, I think you can register at www.balkansport.info and watch all of the games in standard or high quality. VIP marked games require a subscription, though.
If you're in the US and have an internet provider that works with it you should use ESPN3, its pretty good.
Damn. Thank you very much sir! I will see if it works. It is difficult to analyze anything when the video pauses 3 times a minute.
Pretty good actually, played great defense (forced a shooter to make a airball) rebounded well and even made a layup, but Turkey is still horrible.
Turkey a perfect example of how good players don't necessarily make up a good team. They were completely destroyed by Greece in the 2nd half.
^^ True and also a good player is one setting may be ineffective an another. Some guys who are good in the NBA get frustrated under FIBA rules and then there is Carlos Arroyo, who tends to look like Chris Paul in FIBA play.
I expected way more out of Omer on defense, but I guess when the rest of your team gets dominated so thoroughly and you're matched up with quicker players there's only so much you can do. Gonlum put in a fair effort for Turkey for as long as he could, as is typical for him, but he broke down eventually. Ilyasova completely gave up on the team and played for himself. He resorted to isolation, did pretty much no rebounding or passing and took defensive possessions off. Turkoglou just needs to retire, he was absolutely awful. He couldn't get anything to go and had a bunch of turnovers. People were running circles around him on D. Papanikolaou was pretty much flawless with good finishing, good decisions and a lot of mobility. Then again, the entire Greek team looked really good, so nothing special there. Greece's other SF (Perperoglou) stood out a lot as well, so I guess it was just the fact that Turkey has nobody in the perimeter, except Ilyasova playing the 3 every now and then, but he wasn't very interested.
You see ill constructed rosters all of the time in the NBA. My candidate for the worst constructed roster next season is Detroit. Monroe, Drummond and Smith. Not well thought out.
