I texted a friend and wished him "Happy rash ashana" and all he replied was "it's rosh hashanah dumb ass." I pronounced it right, that has to count for something...

Jewish people don't really care about their holidays. They aren't important. Most Jewish people i know didn't even realize it was rosh hashanah

Judaism is both a culture and a religion, but the 2 are separate. There are many Jews who just don't go to synagogue at all and are not "practicing Jews". There are also Christians and Atheists who are Jewish..by culture.

Similarly, many people in America call themselves "Christians", but only about Half of them actually attend church on a regular basis, and they wouldn't be able to tell you when The Epiphany is either...and its on the same day every year.

Way to talk for an entire group. I didn't work yesterday and attended prayer services Wednesday night. I don't work on Yom Kippur and always celebrate Passover with friends and family. Sukkot and Purim are also popular holidays to celebrate.

My Facebook wall was lit up with happy new year messages. I have plenty of Jewish friends that don't attend services or pay attention to the holiday schedule, but they are in the minority.

Because paperwork and merchandising is better than outside sales.

It likely depends on the sect of the Synagogue. It'd probably be better to attend a Reformed service (the most lax of the three sects) and I would avoid attending an Orthodox one.

Also, I don't know how it's done in Houston, but in New Jersey, many synagogues only allow members to attend services on the high holidays, but they also sell tickets to non-members (which sell-out pretty quickly). You would have to look into it.

You want to know how I know you're an a**hole?

You know, I fall into that category...but not because I am Jewish. It's because I question things. However, my parents and many friends of mine do celebrate and regularly practice.

My wife is Catholic and only pays attention to Christmas. Does that mean all Catholics don't care about their holidays and they aren't important?
