So how much are Comcast's "extra fees" these days? That was what always pissed me off, they'd advertise you something like $59.99 then you turn around and your bill is somehow $100+.

I already know they charge $10 per extra HD receiver and $7 for the modem rental, but how much is the miscellaneous crap they're sticking on you guys' bills?

Don't forget the dvr fee. The uverse box is so much better then what Comcast offers and its not even close.

The x1 is long over do for this market.

Yeah, the shopping cart at their site spit out $95 for dvr box + two receivers + modem rental. But I'm guessing that tax plus any other nonsense they tack on will put that in the $110 range.

With tax and fees I am paying about 70 and our dvr has a 500gb hard drive and can due four recordings at once and that includes internet access. We only have one TV though.

I have uverse by the way.

Well you can definitely avoid the modem fee by actually buying your own modem.

    Regarding BallStreams.com
For console support they list PS3
How would that work? Through the PS3 browser?

I'm on uVerse and I'm paying $220. Of course I have the biggest cable package (looking to downgrade), three TVs, and a pretty fast internet option. Also, I am out of the first 6 months, so I'm not getting the sale price.

I think it's 20.00 a month for the main hd dvr, and for me I got three additional hd anyroom dvr receivers, for 9.00 each. That's why the bill is normally 100+.

I went with a Comcast triple play.

Comcast regular dvr only lets you record one show and watch one show if you want to record 4 and watch one you have to move up to the X1 dvr. They won't let you get the X1 unless you buy their triple play package. I had to purchase their phone service even though I haven't had a land line in the last 7 or 8 years.

All in all their prices are pretty much equal to Uverse. Uverse has the better dvr but Comcast has the Rockets.

I'd leaning towards signing up with www.ballstreams.com, but I dont like that I cant pay with paypal or money order. I notice they are based in Netherlands. I signed up for a usenet account in Netherlands recently, and my bank account card info got into the wrong hands apparently the site was hacked into. I dont trust giving my credit card info out unless its protected with paypal now. I would not advise it to you guys either.

I started off with $29.99 basic starter plus $17.95 for HD dvr and $ 9.25 for an xtra HD Box and yeah the modem for $7 so in reality I'm paying about $40 for receivers and modem plus $29.99 for TV and about $35 on Internet which equals to roughly $105 however I did call em last month to get another offer cos my 6 months is almost up and gave me instead a package called the double play and I was relief cos they gave me a total of $17 off my receivers and upgraded both my internet and TV, I now have the digital preferred which has all the sports channel I want (NBATV,MLBN,NHLN,ESPNU n more). So now I'm paying at almost the same price($106 n change) for an upgraded package. And I was told to just call whenever my promo is about to end and actually told me to call in November to find out n they will surely give me some good deals. I was with Dish for quite sometime too, I like their service but 9 out of 10 call center agents doesn't have any idea what CSN H is and one even told me that it was added! So I made the switched.

Actually this happened to me when I got my xfinity installed. It was weird that CSN HOU was not there, it's on channel 639 or 39 in SD but another program is on that same Channel, very weird. That was the first channel I checked cos that's my whole purpose of getting Comcast. To make the story short, I gave them a quick call, telling them that CSN H should have been on the lineup. Took em just a few seconds to add it and my guess is that it all depends on what package you got, cos for some reason I had Max Latino deal...when I told them that I don't even speak Spanish and that I wanted CSN H instead, they quickly changed it.. But no other charges occur so be advise to just check ch 639 right away cos human makes mistakes too...

Will it work if you go buy a pre-paid Visa/Mastercard and then use that?

I'm still very annoyed with Comcast, it's funny when I first moved to Sugar land back in 03 I was told my house is not eligible for Time Warner/Comcast even though both my neighbors (that live next door to me) are able to get it AND my backyard has TWO cable boxes (backyard was expanded because of last previous owner. So I did what any pissed off person would do and got someone to hook up free cable for me.

After 6+ months of great & free cable service I get a specific message saying I now need a cable box to watch TV so I signed up with Dish (at the time a combo deal was offered with my DSL, Windstream service) to allow me to watch Houston Rockets basketball. That worked great for a year until it was leaked that FSN was no longer showing the Rockets on their channel. Now I'm stuck with Dish for another 1+ year until my contract expires.

Hopefully something gets done with CSN and all the other TV companies. If not it's going to be another long season..

Damn, I have the U450 with Palladia, 1 DVR with four receivers (5 TV's) and the fastest internet available and I'm paying $145.00 a month. I get free HD, I only pay for 1 DVR not for the other boxes and I got my internet price down to $39.99/Month for the fastest service. I just called last year, told them Direct TV was offering me their full package at $150.00 and they matched. This was for a 1 year contract that I will be renewing.

    Yep, that should work.
One of my friends will be buying this, so I'll ask him to use a pre-paid Visa if he can. Or if you're able to use a pre-paid, let us know here at ClutchFans if it works or not!

Although... wouldn't the easiest option be asking BallStreams up front if they accept pre-paid or not? Haha.
