I was in heaven tonight. Why didnt they wear the home white though?!?!? Thought that was a bit strange. I say let em wear it..... Looks good..... And ZRB.... RETRO RULES and dont you forget it!!!!!!
Party pooper. The old school uni's tonight were a breath of fresh air from the trash that they have been wearing the last several years. It's quite obvious the only change that needs to be made in the offseason is to get rid of the cursed jersey's that they are wearing now so they can become the dominate team they once were. Put on a clown's unifom you will play like a clown, put on a classic respectible uniform and you play like a veteran who is proud to be a rocket.
It's good to see they were wearing the RED at home as opposed to the white. They should have red home threads in the future.
"We had a different attitude, just because of the jerseys,'' Eddie Griffin said. ``We felt different walking out there with them on. You could just tell we had a different attitude. We didn't want to get upset in our jerseys. We just wish we could keep them.''
You could tell tonight at the amount of energy the team had. The Uni's may have some effect on that. Hey whatever works!
Hey hows this.. If the Rockets play Dallas in the first round with the retro jerseys... I bet ya they would win!
Oh c'mon kidrock, how can you be sick of the retro look? And how is that annoying? These jerseys symbolize success, teamwork, championships. your right about the lettering though.
It was great to see them in the old unis! Stevie in all those bands (head, arm), and the HIGH socks! It was great!!! I wish they could wear them for the remainder of the season, but the NBA won't let them. Contracts, for money from jerserys etc. Though, I do believe they would make alot more money if they switched to the old unis and sold them for the remainder of the season.
Man . . .it was awesome .. I'm watching the 12 o clock repeat and damn if i'm not almost tearing up these uniforms are just so ****ing breathtaking to me BRING BACK THE MUSTARD AND RED!!!1 Rocket River that is the problem with the pjs. . . .no sense of history behind them no . .aura
Hi.. First time poster, long time reader. .. I'm not ussualy superstitious, but am I alone in feeling that the rockets would've done better in 1995-96 had they kept wearing the red and gold unis? Stick with the red and gold and bring back the rocket's red glare..
Darn knee injuries. Hmmm I have a bad feeling about the supposed red and sliver. What if they keep the same logo. It might be red jerseys with silver pinstripes! It looks better in my mind than the current ones. Also, while getting off topic, you know how the Padres sometimes have camoflauge uni's? Well I think the Rockets/Astros/Aeros/Texans (well maybe not the Texans) should be "streamline" and have Jackson Pollock night. heh. I can see it now!!! Man would that be funny. Every uniform could be different hahahaha.
the league has a rule that the only way a player can change his number is if they're traded to a new team, or drop off the nba payroll. jordan had the option of 23 or 45, chose 45 then changed his mind. too late as all the singlet makers had made 1 gazillion jordan 45 tops & the nba would've been sued for a **** load of money. our sitch is somewhat different. as we are getting new tops next season, they have in all likelyhood stopped making them (prob did that 2 weeks into the season, and only would've been SF & YM singlets they made at all) and all they have for sale now is surplace stock. This move would increase turnover in a "new product line" that they're already making, and prob would continue making into next season (maybe even beyond) due to demand - we rox fans want to buy team gear that we can actually wear outside of the house (correction... should be anywhere) without being ridiculed. Living in Australia, up until a couple of months ago, we got exactly sweet FA rox merchandising. A cool bball store here (kickz101 (.com.au) for aussies/those interested) finally got some "genuine" singlets. Yao only of course. this allowed me to see the PJs for the first time in the flesh (i had previously only seen the red/yellow tops when i went to games). All that i can say is the PJs are sooooo much worse than i thought they would be, and i was expecting them to suck big time! No matter how bad they look on tv, they're material for nightmares up close (no pun intended). Given the premium they charge on retro tops, and the huge demand they'll get if they make the commitment/distribution, it would be a huge cash windfall for all 3 parties involved (Rox, nba, manufacturers). Even the ratings for rox games will go up as people wont have to change channels to stop the vomiting-on-sight reflex reaction the PJs cause so.... please let this happen. a win-win situation for all.
If we can somehow convince the front office to let us wear retro the rest of the year.. watch out.. Houston Rockets 2003 NBA champions
