I guess 600 reporters are all either incompetent or part of a vast international conspiracy, so Americans wouldn't get the truth.

When did you come out of Iran? curious you don't seem like an exile.

With all due respect Rezdawg, how would you quantify your opinion?

Come on now. Im not saying that there arent a portion of Iraqis who would love to see Saddam get knocked the F@#@ out, but to deny the fact that there are still millions who were fine with their way of life is ignorant.

    I came out in 1984.

All Im saying is that people that live in Iraq know more about what the people want than people sitting in America. Its that simple. If you go into Baghdad and take a random sample of 100 people. Ask them if they would rather have the US come in and demolish their city so that they could have a better lifestyle or sit back and let life go on as before, a majority of them would choose the latter.

So I can actually know something about Iraq now w/o knowing someone inside the country.

I would contend that we know more about the whole situation than most ordinary Iraqis for the simple reason of the distance we have from the actual events. They may know what is going on in their backyard, but not much more. Someone living on the outskirts of Basra wouldn't even know how those in the center of the city are faring.

So if 5 million Iraqis are against the regime and 6 million have no problem with it, its okay to go in a change it to the way we see fit?

Absolutely, when the regime is a threat to the US.

I also seem to remember that Adolf Hitler was very popular with the general German population. Does that mean it was his right to remain in power because his people wanted it so?

How about this particular perspective: the 1.2 million dead due Saddam's whims on a given day.

Thats a great number and all, but the matter of the fact is that people still support him. I dont know why, but they dont mind having him at the helm.

Maybe not militarily but they have WMD and train terrorist to use them against America. That makes them a huge threat to the US and after 9/11 is the new threat that America will have to defend themselves from in the future.

I thought you said that your family had fled Iran? Since they're the friggen former royal family? Yes, I remember distinctly you saying that...

So who exactly are you talking about when you mention your Iranian sources?

The majority of Iraqis want Saddam gone and you know it. Only those connected to the regime want him to stay.

Aside from that, this thread is stupid. One of the dumber ones I've seen in weeks. The battle is too lopsided? That's a bad thing? WTF? Typical glynchaganda...

Appreciate your perspective Rezdawg, but 1.2 million dead (a fairly conservative number I would think) is anything but "a great number".

Only the coalition of the bribed and coerced have access to mass media and really know what's going on in Iraq. That's classic. :D

Hey Bush, nice try including those third world "countires" in your happy little coalition.

Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iceland, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Palau, Rwanda, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Uganda, Albania, Azerbaijan, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Macedonia, Nicaragua, and Uzbekistan

    Some real powerhouses there Refman.

If I truly believed that, I would have no problems with this war. From what Ive heard, I find it extremely difficult to believe that the majority of Iraqis want Saddam gone.

The lives of today's soldiers who prop up a murderous tyrant < the lives of innocent civilians who would have died (in perpetuity).

I guess when police have guns and robbers have knives, the police should drop their weapons to make things more even.
