I'm not so sure - Belmont doesn't respond to a lot of things, but they do respond to $$$. Texas has had some significant problems with ticket sales this year. After 10 years of my season tickets not moving any closer (I have 6 seats so its hard to move), we moved half a section last year and a full section this year. Face value of tickets dropped dramatically this year as well - with the crappy games from $65 to $45 and the good games going from $90 to $65. And even with that, Belmont has been sending out all sorts of emails with ticket discounts/etc - stuff that never went out prior to last year. Last year, I actually managed to get face value OU tickets from Belmont because students didn't use their whole allotment (part of that was that ACL was the same weekend, I believe). These are the kinds of things that probably hurt his invincibility from within.
Oh I hear you. Deloss is an incredibly loyal stand-up kind of guy though, if that makes sense, when he retires things may change drastically. Some of the major boosters are not that unhappy yet (yet) and that carries a ton of weight, fwiw. If anyone's in danger of getting forced out, it's Barnes, with Augie a close second. Mack has laid out his "phase-out" plan, but he keeps changing his mind because he doesn't want to leave on a down note, which I understand. Frankly I think they need new blood all around the Athletic Department.
Yes, removing him from QB was a choice that should have been made sooner. He's a monster athlete, you want to get them on the field with the ball in their hands somehow. He could be something, or not but he certainly wasn't a QB.
Yeah, I went to the game. South end zone in the student section just right of the band and the main tunnel and 10 or so rows from the bottom. I love night games; I also caught two shirts!
ah I sit near the north endzone in section 25, the gattling t shirt gun was pretty neat if you got the chance to see that
Jezzz one of these running backs is going to transfer at the end of the season. It would be nice if they were all good enough to run over everyone.
Got a question and figured the the people in this thread would be able to answer it. They said on Mike and Mike (I think it was Golic who said it) that Jameis Winston really wanted to play for UT to the point he even called them but they didn't call him back. Is that accurate?
not sure, I don't think so though. UT isn't listed as one of his college choices http://rivals.yahoo.com/okvarsity/football/recruiting/player-Jameis-Winston-102384
HAHAHAHAHA I just spit up my coffee at my desk So just to recap UT-Austin's last few years of quarterback efforts 1) Fails to notice RGIII an hour away in Copperas Cove, TX. WINS HEISMAN AT QB 2) Offers lifelong UT-Austin fan Johnny Manziel as a defensive back. WINS HEISMAN AT QB 3) Doesn't pick up the phone when the nation's best QB recruit CALLS THEM.
texxx, you're slipping. We offered RG3 as a defensive back as well. And no mention of Andrew Luck, son of UT Law graduate Oliver Luck? Heck, I'm kind of disappointed you didn't show any love to Connor Wood coming off a 400 yard performance. Go back to harrassing Aggy. Off you go: http://thejohnnyweknow.tumblr.com/
5 RB's deep. Those guys looked incredible and Ash's long TD run was nice, but we were playing a team that had 1 win last year, at home. I'm not getting overly excited at all. They'll find a way to Mack Brown it soon enough.
