Who said anything about changing his game?

You can do the same exact drills, but with more intensity/difficulty. Are you telling me he's going to get shots that wide open every time? Every college player says the NBA is quicker, especially how much more quickly they close out on a shooter. This training doesn't reflect that at all. It also doesn't reflect the kind of defender he'll face. I also don't believe a large percentage of his attempts will be long twos. Morey will get on him about just taking that extra step back, so his shots are unlikely to come from there.

Again, i hope it was just a light practice for him.

His role this season I believe is going to be that of a Robert Horry. Guard multiple positions and open up the middle for Howard and Harden to work.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting a lot of burn at the "four". He looks like he's gained some weight since he came into the league, listed at 225. Maybe somewhere in the 235-240 range? Should help justify keeping him on the court against a wider variety of opposing forwards.

I'm more interested in what kind of defense he can play than how he's dribbling the ball. He needs to space the floor, knock down open looks, and spend a lot of his energy on the other end.

Coaching needs to start implementing a defensive philosophy, and weeding out the players who don't buy in. Concerned that Casspi might not buy in defensively.

Every player needs to start from somewhere. Nobody is born with a quick release jumpshot. They first practice in slow motion, the hop and the wrist snap. In a real game situation, these movements will need to be sped up, but with enough practice, they keep the same consistent motion.

Just like when you see people at a shooting range. They take their time on their stance, shoulder, breathing, aim and pulling the trigger. But in a real combat situation they will react and fire much faster, the practice helps.

Horry could guard 3 to 5, Omri cant guard 5s and cant guard the bigger 4s. I'd say he's a lot more limited.

He is a third year player in the NBA, not a high school freshman. This shouldn't be his starting point. You can't expect to shoot half speed in practice and just speed it up successfully in a game. That's like saying a team can just walk through an up tempo offense in practice and only run once they are in the game. Youre going to play how you practice. That's what you're conditioning yourself to do.

I like. His form is a bit different but damn, it seems to work.

I get why the FO is high on this guy. Just imaging Dwight moving down low while he's shooting those Js... Perfect complement. I don't think it's a coincidence that Omri is the first one they really closed on after the Dwight signing.

I think he'll be a surprising asset for us, just like Delfino was.

In the NFL their is little contact in practice and in the NBA I doubt their running suicides. I do understand where you are coming from but only if you knew how many shots he put up that day.

That's not comparable at all. They dont do full contact in practice for obvious reasons that don't apply to basketball.

As to suicides, why wouldn't they run suicides?

I would be sweating right now if I was Parsons. Casspi is a much better fit with Dwight.

Tall and a sharpshooter. But seems slow footed and not that athletic.

No, I think you're pushing it...
Casspi has a lot to prove this year on the basic level,
way before he could endanger anyone's starting spot.
It's a good thing the expectations sre there, though.
Perhaps he WILL surprise and be a star in the Rockets.

BTW - He's exactly the same height as Parsons.

I have to agree with the Jabberwock. Casspi has talent, but the burden of proof is definitively on his turf. I think Casspi is lucky to be in Houston because the Rockets are probably the best fit in the NBA for his style of game. Daryl Morey's computer analysts probably figured that out as well.

Casspi may start in certain constellations but together with Parsons when one of them plays the PF. I think, however, that Casspi will mainly be Parsons backup in the rotation allowing Parson to play decent minutes. In this sense I believe the Rockets have become much deeper. Garcia behind Harden, Casspi behind Parsons and Asik behind Howard will make the Rockets a team playing 48 minutes very hard.

I think the Rockets look very good right now and I really hope that Casspi will find himself again. It looks to me that Houston will give him the chance that the Cavaliers did not.

He's not a sharpshooter. At least not from what he's shown in his 4 years in the league. A lot of guys shoots lights out in practice and they never transfer that accuracy to in-game situations. He's probably closer to what we expected from chandler last season, shooting-wise.

    LOL wut?

Omri doesn't do anything better than Parsons.

Correct. Defensively he can't guard any 4's,or 3's,unfortunately.
He can be effective in spurts off the bench.
