Man I am happier than ever now that we picked up Mo Taylor. Before the pickup, everyone was having a big debate about whether or not to pick him up. "We need to let Kenny develop" they said. Kenny is a good player, and as all of us have heard, has good footwork, spin moves, can rebound(something Mo can't do yet) etc. But he isnt worthy of being a starter at all. He seems to always miss the point blank shots(I'm sure that he'll stop doing this soon), but it's still weird how he's missed at least 5 point blank layups after doing a sweet spin move. And of course, he can't shoot the threes very well. It seems that in order for Kenny to have a good game, he MUST shoot the 3 well. Simply put, his offense is WAY too inconsistent. Now I'm not bashing Kenny... I think he's got good potential, but I'm just sayin what's true - He wasn't/isn't starter's material. I think all the Mo Taylor haters have to appreciate Mo simply because of the fact that he's so much better than any other pf we have. Kenny is a good backup because he doesnt have to bring it every night; he can screw up a lot and learn from his mistakes, but it wont hurt the team that much because after all, he's only our backup. If Thomas was the starter, and he was playing like this, I'd be pullin my hair out. But he's not, and when he makes dumb mistakes, I don't get super pissed off because after all, he IS our backup and can take his time in learning. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club. alaskasnowman, I couldnt agree with you more. In another thread BobFinn was bashing Mo and of course I had to defend him by saying I would rather have Mo than Kenny starting because of exactly what you said..point blank shots missed and crazy a$$ 3 pointer shots. Like you, I like Kenny's hustle plays and his rebounding prowess but he can improve on finishing at the basket. I also think the refs dont give him any respect either. It seems like all the calls go against him. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
I dont need to bash KT, he's doing all the bashing himself on the court (or should I say RIM) FG% - .373 3PT% - .182 ------------------ "I have a DREAM.........his name's Hakeem." DREAMer's Rocket Page
You talk about kenny missing point blank layups?I remember cuttino also missing 3 point blank layups but maybe you just didnt notice because he was also scoring alot. I love Kenny he has had no negatives whatsoever this year.I was at tonights game and there was one f*cking ref who thought he was God and didnt give kenny a break. Every time down the court theyd call a freakin foul on kenny. He simply gets no respect at all from the refs. It's ridiculous. He plays hard, doesnt force the issue, and scores occasionally. What more can you ask for? ------------------ www.truebballfansite.homestead.com
Kenny needs to work on a medium range jump shot, similar to what Mo has. If he can develop that along with his low post moves, he'll be more effective. Right now it's a 3 pointer or he will face the reverse pivot and face the basket and then spin. I promise you that when he works on a pull up jumper from 12-18 feet he will be a very good player. The key is, he must work on that part of his game. He had all summer and I don't see many if any changes in his game. I think this was touched on during the comments made about the RMR. ------------------
So far, I can continue saying Kenny is better than Fizer, as expected. We can also say that Kenny is very aware of missing the layup after the great moves. You should see him "live" (off camera) after that. Mobley, and other teammates, will come up to him now and smack him for missing those. He clearly really hates it. To me, it is a matter of gaining focus for the rim. Right now, it is like he is focusing on the defenders to spin past them, then has to regain focus for the rim to make the shot. Eventually he will learn that ALL focus should be on the rim, and his moves around defenders become reflex. btw, Did anyone else notice how small Fizer is in real life? No wonder he gets abused on the boards. Fizer will never be a good rebounder. Thomas is a natural on the boards. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited November 19, 2000).]
It would be awesome if we could trade KT and get "our real draft pick" Dermarr Johnson. Its always good to have more athletes coming off the bench and the Rockets could use a little help in that area.
HP, Fizer will be a GREAT player, you watch. As for KT, he is forcing the issue too much. His playing time has dwindled, due to the signing of MO, and he is struggling to find his rythmn. Give him some quality minutes and he will improve. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
"So far, I can continue saying Kenny is better than Fizer, as expected." Fizer has gotten off to a poor start, but that is mainly b/c the Bulls are playing him out of position and rookies go through these growing pains. I still stick by my guns that Fizer has a very bright future in this league. I just wish the Bulls would trade him somewhere so he could play the 4 spot. This guy is better than KT on so many levels talent wise its not even funny. I have been disgusted with KT this yr. There is no way that a PF that cant finish worth a damn around the basket, has very inconsistent effort and ends up settling for 3 pointers b/c his spin moves keep getting put back in his face is better than Fizer. I am so glad KT plays a reserve role this yr, and Fizer is better than him in many ways. Judging Fizer based on 10 games when he is completely playing out of position is an unfair assessment. Using that kind of rationale, you could say KT is better than Swift also. I dont know of any GM on this earth that would take KT over Swift. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Yeah I did notice Cuttino missing some layups, but I don't care about those because he doesn't always do it. And he makes up for it by scoring on the next time anyway. Kenny can't score as well as Cat so he needs to make the most of what he gets, and right now he's not doing it. As far as your question, I can't really ask for more than hard work. But the purpose of this thread was about how good it was to not have Kenny starting. If Kenny was starting, then I WOULD BE ASKING FOR A LOT MORE. But since he's a backup, it doesnt matter as much that he misses those layups or misses some 3 pointers. As a backup, you can give him ample time to screw up and learn. But if he was starting... we'd be in major trouble. ------------------ da ability to focus attention on important things is a defining characteristic of intelligence - alaskanSnowman [This message has been edited by alaskansnowman (edited November 19, 2000).]
