I voted for the MJ layup, because it IS my earliest memory of an extremely famous moment in the NBA.

Something I've always wanted to know...why IS it so famous? He clearly could have made the routine layup.

I think that shot was iconic because the camera showed Phil Jackson shaking his head in amazement right after. I agree. The acrobatic demonstration of athleticism was eye-popping but it was totally unnecessary. It could have been just an easy dunk. That said, Jordan probably sensed a blocking attempt closing in and switch hand. But block attempt never really came.

The most remarkable memory I have was watching Reggie go HAM on the Knicks. Just the drama and the build-up of seeing the yapping with an off-court spectator, then actually to go all NBA Jam on-fire was eye popping unbelievable.

Jordan and the Bulls introduced me to the game that I love. I still believe he shouldn't have retired the first time. "The Shot part 2" and "A Spectacular Move" were iconic moments for me.

So can anyone explain why he shifted to his left? Is it because he thought Sam Perkins was going to jump and block his shot?
