75 when I'm home. 81 when I'm at work/away for more than a few hours. Off when I'm gone for more than a day.
Been switching back and forth between 65 and 80 every hour or so for the last few months. Any psych majors got some feedback on that, thanks in advance.
I like that sweet spot during the seasons in late fall/early Winter and then early Spring where you don't have to run the AC or the Heat. And I love the bills that come with that.
No, this is not true. I just wouldn't go over ~82 because then the house gets really warm and humid which is not good for certain materials, and things may seems to smell a little when you come home. We keep the A/C at 72-73 when home and 82 when away in summer Furnace at 74-75 when home and 62 when away in winter.
This very true of the baby-boomer generation of Indians that immigrated here in the 1970s... they all have plenty of money but still choose to keep the A/C high and run fans b/c they find the A/C to bee too cold. Their children - they lived through those hellacious temps and have swung the other way. We've got a Nest and it has auto-learned that we like the house at 72 when we're home and it goes into "Away" mode when we are at work all day or travel. Bills are much cheaper than I expected with running at 72 all night.
Has anyone used this thermostat? http://yourhome.honeywell.com/home/...7-Day-Programmable/Wi-Fi+Smart+Thermostat.htm I am considering this or the Nest. I currently have a Honeywell 7-Day Programmable but no WIFI or any other advanced features. I am leaning toward Honeywell WIFI. The Nest is definitely advanced but I prefer a big display and the Honeywell will show you the forecast that it pulls from the internet.
We have our own AC unit for just the master bedroom. We keep it a 75 in the day and 67 when we sleep. For the rest of the house we have a ecobee thermostat, it does everything the Nest does and a lot more and its 76 during the day, 73 in evenings and 71 at night. The ecobee is cool becuase it sends a monthly email telling me how much money I saved over other units in the area and all kinds of other data about the AC. If you're looking to buy a Nest the ecobee is worth looking into.
78 - home during day 80 - away 77-76 - sleep we have a two story house but its just me and my wife sleeping in the master room. I was wondering if anyone knows if a dehumidifier will work to cool the room and I can just set the central ac unit higher when sleeping.
