Most of my friends from the Caribbean also do this. St Lucian's, Trinidad and the other islands alike.
78 while away, 76 while at home, 70 while sleeping. I can't sleep unless I'm freezing. Luckily, the wife is the same way. 2-story house.
Hmm, thanks for the replies guys. I just wanted to know what the "norm" was before I try to compromise with my new roommate. I've been thinking I was the abnormal one with my temps. I've always kept my 4-bedroom home around 75 when I'm home and go to bed, sometimes 77 in the late-evening, and 80 when away. I'm accustomed to it; hardly ever get hot. My roommate likes it a few degrees cooler (73-74) but has the AC running the entire time he's home to when he goes to bed. The electric bill has increased ~$40-50 the last few months, which isn't that bad. But since I charge my roommate low rent that includes all utilities, I obviously want to limit bills to as little as possible.
home - summer time 76 away 74 home. 72 bed time. There are 2 units and about two-thirds of the house is on one unit while the remaining one-third is on the other. The one-third portion of the house contains the master bedroom so at night I can turn the rest of the house back to 76...which is a nice little saver.
the txu deal of free nights sounds like a good deal. i would keep at 68 if i had that. i'm still under contract with reliant =( so it's 78 when I'm at home, 82 when I'm not there
It is if you enjoy paying $.17/KW for the day time rates. I'm thinking about going to it anyways. I'd love to have it at 65 every single night.
