Done it both ways, generally people don't have a pen and pencil with them, so they call the number, therefore exchanging both numbers.
I would exchange, just to increase the chances of contact. I once got this girl's number, who I was really interested in, and i lost my phone later that night If they don't want to give their number, they probably aren't that interested.
Guys...Nowadays you can do both. This is an unnecessary dilemma due to technology advancements. You give the girl your cellphone and ask them to call themselves. voila...now the contact info is set in the phone of both parties. Very convenient and they generally appreciate the tip that calling yourself from another person's phone is quick and easy. No paper required and no typing mistakes can occur.
Who the hell doesn't exchange numbers nowadays? You give/get a number. You send/receive a text/missed call from the person. Both people have the number. Then you text the person depending on the situation. The same night/next day/ coupla days later. Or get a text from them. It's not that hard.
creepy? nah. I'm just saying, you ask if you can have their phone number, and if they say "yes" then you give them your phone. That way they immediately have yours too. not sure why that's creepy, they already said yes. Maybe I'm discussing a scenario where you're pretty confident you will not be rejected. I'd say any situation in which you'd get rejected by a phone number request could count as creepy. The technology is not what makes it creepy. Do you guys get turned down for phone numbers? Do you ask too soon, in mass, to every skirt in the room, fishing for any nibble.

OP....you sure seem to spend a lot of time watching videos/listening to other guys tell you how to talk to girls. What's up with that?
This isn't that hard. Ask her for phone #. If she wants to get together with you when you call she's interested in getting to know you better.
