It's the Lenovo idea pad N580. I actually got this 4-5 months ago and I do not why the problem has occurred. It seems many Lenovo idea pads have the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem for the Lenovo idea pad n580?
My Dell laptop would give me that message when I didn't have the plug pushed all the way inside the charger slot. So make sure yours is fully plugged in.
I have a Lenovo, different model I believe and have had that problem before as well. I don't remember exactly how to fixed it but it has to do with changing a setting. I know I found the solution by Googling.
I went through the same thing with two lenovos & multiple cables. Unless they've since changed their design, lenovo's cords plug straight in instead of making an immediate 90 out of the jack, & they end up getting bent over & over until they no longer work. Mine did anyway. If you haven't used yours a lot while plugged in, that's not going to be your problem, but if you can wiggle the plug & push it in, & it indicates charging even for a second, that could be it. I ended up buying an aftermarket power cord that makes a right turn, & it has lasted over twice as long as previous lenovo cables combined.
1. Take out the battery 2. turn on the computer with only the plug in. That would mean the charger is at least working if it runs without a battery 3. Try it with the battery and another charger if you can find one This would verify if the battery or plug works. In Level of MAJORNESS 1. Bad Connector is worse cause this means a new motherboard which means $$$$ 2. Bad Battery is easy to switch out but still cost $$ 3. Bad Charger is not as much as a battery not it cost $ Rocket River I would doubt it is anything software related but i could be wrong
I have a similar problem but I'm thinking maybe I have a bad battery. My indicator actually shows plugged in and charging, but it never charges past 33%. I recently came back from China though, so I think maybe the power over there messed something up.
How long have you left it plugged in? I have seen this message before on an HP when the battery was fully drained. It took longer than an hour for it to finally dismiss that message and eventually charge.
If you're asking me, it's my work laptop so I used it for 8-10 hours a day for the last 1.5 weeks since the error started. I've tried various methods I read online including taking out the battery, turning on the laptop on AC power, uninstalling some battery driver in Windows, putting it back in and letting the driver reinstall. Still nothing. If I let the battery drain down, it will actually charge back up... but never past 33%. When it hits 33% it doesn't show full or stopped... it shows charging but just doesn't go past it.
You may need to discharge the computer. Take out the battery, unplug the laptop, then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds.
Drop the $100 or so for a new cord; if it's still not charging then there might be a problem with the computer outlet itself. I had the same problem with my Dell, you're going to need to shut down the computer before you run out of power and try to get it fixed.
Hey it's by design I think! I remember looking into this on lenovos forum. There's a power management software on there. Look into it. Sorry I am on my phone.
