Houston is a hardcore football town, Texans will always be #1 in fans and sports news.

That's like saying David Beckham was crossing the pond from England, to save L.A. Soccer and take the spotlight away from the Lakers. Didn't happen.

Well, at one point he was. At least on offense. You can almost say the Harden trade was God telling Lin to not get too full of himself.

The ball goes to whoever is open. If the defense focuses on one player, while leaving another player wide open, then the ball goes to him.

More people need to read this.

Secondly, it's not his fans that are keeping this thread and his news up. It's the countless of other people that keep commenting (I guess me included) that are bumping up the threads.

If you guys don't want to keep reading Lin stuff, then just stop commenting on his posts and the threads will die down.

You may ask yourself, what is that beautiful house?
You may ask yourself, where does that highway go to?
You may ask yourself, am I right, or am I wrong?
You may say to yourself, my God, what have I done?

The so called Sport Media Reporters are one layer above the prostitute. They want to grab attention as a whole. This ESPN report further proves it.

By taking Jlin's word out of content is not fun game any more, save it to ur mother, the reporters!

I've gone to way more church events than I'd like to admit. So I think I'm qualified to say that Jlin's statements are pretty standard for Christian testimony. Other's have correctly pointed out that his statements are taken out of context since he was giving testimony. But they have not explained the general nature of testimony.

In general, with testimony you are trying to emphasize a hi-lo or a lo-hi swing in fortune - such that you realize that fortune is fickle, the world is empty, and that the only thing of value is faith in god. So the greater the hi-lo swing, the better the story is, and the more convincing the testimony. Jlin has a good story because his hi-lo swing is so extreme. Linsanity is his high, and it's a pretty high high. And getting almost cut from multiple teams is a pretty low low.

His previous years testimony went from low to high. He started out almost being cut by 3 teams, and then triumphed with Linsanity, glorifying god in the process. But after that he realized that success was empty since he was never satisfied, and had renewed faith in god as a result.

This years testimony had him start with Linsanity, and high expectations - "saving Houston basketball", "cornerstone of the franchise", "Linsanity 2.0" - and then having him go low - "the coaches started losing faith in me", "Toney Douglas took my minutes", "I cried before the New Orleans game". As are result he realized that he could not count on approval from the world - and need to only focus on pleasing god.

Again, there is always a hi-lo or lo-hi swing in testimony, and the greater the swing, the better. I have heard plenty of testimony in the past and have sometimes wondered if the highs were really that high or the lows were really that low. There is pressure when you are up at the podium to tell a good story. Who's to say there isn't occasional embellishment?

So I can understand how some of the other posters have claimed he is "fake humble", or that he's full of it if he though he would save Houston basketball. But he did it because he is selling god - not himself - and like all people that are selling something, he will make you wonder where he's coming from. But if you understand the general nature of testimony, what he says will make more sense.

Exactly. I don't know why people need to generalise.

    'All Lin fans said this.'

    or

    'Lin haters all say this.'

How the hell are you supposed to discuss anything with someone when they ascribe opinions to you that you did in fact never state.

I always thought Lin knew he wasn't going to replicate Linsanity. I figured he knew he was brought in as a sideshow.

We would have been a disaster last season had we not gotten Harden.

If anything he lost faith himself causing the Coaches to lose faith in him. But after the all star break the young man's game got better.

If the Texans are not winning and the Rockets are winning then the Houston fanbase will support the Rockets more. And vice versa. But since both teams are winning both teams will be supported heavily by the fanbase in Houston. Jokers around here always jump on and off the Ship pimpn.

I honestly don't think Morey ever had any intentions of Lin being our franchise player. or Coach McHale, they would be crazy to think that for someone who have a short run of good games who hasn't proven himself. Morey just took the risk with lin of having someone who could potentially end up a star, i don't think he ever planned to build around him or make him the franchise player.

I don't know the logic of these things, but wouldn't Lin naturally think that his play during Linsanity was God's will?

The first few minutes of the testimony is important. He was giving the audience the background of what happened to his career, what was expected of him, his own expectations, what the people and the media were saying. All of these things affected him, thus, affected his game.....listening to all the voices around him and trying to live up to other people's expectations made his life miserable and joyless. And that's why he changed.

The speech should be analyzed as a whole.
