They do this with Aus football and Epl teams

The main benefit is in training and before matches as sports scientists are able to gauge pretty much everything down to effort, physical attributes and positional intelligence instantly without needing to go to the video room

Very progressive step forward by the teams

They'll log all of Harden's visits to the clubs :p

Dunno about you, but won't it be annoying to have something stuck to your back during a game?

It's only on the court. The players strap on a GPS unit and a heart rate monitor.

It's not new. Other sports have been using this for the last 10-8 years.

There were 2-3 companies specializing in this but they've all merged or were acquired into a single company now and have been making a push into the north american market the last couple of years.

I can see some "sweat shop" kinda abuses down the line.

There is already things like Nike FuelBand that tracks all your physical aerobic activity that regular people willingly share results with others in social sites. (People seem to be WANTING to be tracked by others. Anything for Likes and Retweets) So might be part of a bigger social change

    Document every move???

What if a player has to scratch his crotch or pick his nose (which sometimes the TNT and ESPN camera guys catch anyway)?

Why am I on this thread?
