He's the best runner, but does he block well in pass protection. He's not a big guy.

Not sure. He hasn't had a chance, that I've seen, to show it off.

Dennis Johnson (hope I got that right) seems to have fumblitis, which will probably cost him his shot. He hasn't played well.

Karim has played well. 6 carries, 37 yards, 6.2 ypc last week. 9 carries, 55 yards, 6.1 ypc this week. He has experience as a return man, I'd like to see him get some reps there. I'm really surprised we haven't done that yet, seems like a selling point with him. If he can be our return guy, I'm fine with him being our 3rd RB.

I'd like to see Wood earlier in the game. He didn't come in until the start of the 4th tonight.

It seems to me like Kubes is giving Dennis Johnson every opportunity to make this squad but I'm just not seeing it. 1.6 ypc last week, 2 ypc this week. 2 fumbles this week. Not impressed by his returns. Give his reps to Wood.

Agree with everything you said. I'd like to see Wood and Karim split time at second rb, and battle it out in week four for the last spot.

How about trade Schaub to a team with a worse starting qb than him. At least we get some talent out of it.

Hopkins with a concussion. "He's 'fine' now but we'll put him through the protocol."

Many tough decisions to make. (QB, RB, DLine)

Disappointed in how they ran the ball in general.

Lestar is playing well. Lestar has come a long way. That's important because we can't overload Hop. Keyshawn and Lestar playing at that level keeps Andre and Hop fresh.

Keo has a quad contusion. Eddie (Pleasant) has a banged knee. Got thin at safety.

Bothered by penalties. Discipline - 'that's on me.'

Can anybody tell me how Trevardo Williams and Willie Jefferson did? Looks like Trevardo was credited with a couple of sacks and Jefferson had one. Did they stand out in any other way?

    My thoughts

    Offense
    QBs
Shaub INT was a mixture of Schaub throwing behind, Nuk slipping, and Grimes making a good jump. He looked sharp otherwise

Keenum has more mobility than any QB we have. He looked comfortable and looks like he is isn't afraid to take chances. Pass to Jean was spot on but he had a couple deep passes to Lemon that sailed. He would do the same thing at UH. Sail some and make some. He makes off schedule plays better than any QB we have.

TJ looked sharp with 3rd unit which he should. Still doesn't show a killer instinct and desire to take chances. Maybe it is Kubes wearing off on him.

    RBs
I wish they would try to get Tate going more this preseason, but maybe they are afraid he injures to easily.

Karim played well and hit his holes well. Will succeed in this scheme. Want to see him return kicks. Not sure about his pass protection and pass catching ability really.

D Johnson had a bad game. He tries to do too much in the hole. Has speed to burn but doesn't use it well/ Overall lack of awareness. Fumblitis will kill his chances.

Woods looked good against 3rd stringers. I want to see him flip roles with Karim next week and have Karim play 3rd. Long and takes long strides. Deceptively fast gets to the corner. I'm sure pass blocking and pass catching are a bit behind but would like to see him more.

    Graham should get DJ's touches

    TEs
    Daniels looks mid season shape.

Graham looks like Daniels heir apparent.

Griffith looks like Grahams heir apparent as well.

This team does a good job with TEs.

    WRs
    AJ80 looked good

Nuk had some good things happen before concussion. Hope it is only a slight concussion.

LeStar Jean looked real good again. Good route and good catch as well as body control.

Keyshawn looked like Keyshawn. A good slot WR and not much more.

Lemon looked like he had skills. Hope he gets on the practice squad. Maybe give him some chances to return kickoffs.

    OL
Still in development. Some very good play and some very bad play no consistency outside of C and LT.

Brooks/RG looks like he has some good upside.

    Defense

    DL
Should be very good this year.

Like what we have at DT now and really excited about McClain. He was impressive again tonight.

    Crick is solid depth

    OLB
Braman shows flashes but disappears sometimes.

    Trevardo looked great.

Jefferson also looked to be solid depth. I wonder if his WR background will help him when he has to drop in coverage?

    ILB
So good to see Cushing back. He changes everything about our defense.

    Mays looks competent.

Besides Cushing don't trust any of our ILB in coverage.

    DBs
Kareem is close to being our CB1

McCain is small and needs to use his speed better to defend against bigger receivers.

DJ will be a good Reed insurance policy and may even play some nickel-back.

Williams and Montgomery were both getting dogged on by Vandemeer and Ware for having shown zilch so far. They went onto to intimate that Jefferson is making a name for himself in their absence. Right after that Williams had the 2 sacks. I think this was against the 3rd string Dolphins offense, but may be wrong.

Anyway, kinda pulling for Jefferson to stick around.

Lol at "Justin" Keller. And at Berman using the wrong "their". That makes me giggle.

Anyways, I was going to start a thread on it, but at the risk of looking like a fool, I won't. Wood reminds me of Foster a bit in that he is deceptively fast, especially to the edge, and is a strong guy for his size. Also, he's quick to decide and get downhill. I really like him. I'm pulling for him over Karin, to be honest, as I think he has more potential. I would love to see him against better competition, and to see his pass blocking/catching abilities.

Lestar is looking good, although he looked good last preseason, too.

Willie Jefferson has already made this team, in my opinion.

At this point, I'd say Yates is ahead of Keenum. Both are playing fairly well, but I think Keenum is a bit sensationalized because of who he is. Yates was nearly flawless last night. Keenum was good against the third string a week before, but not as good as Yates. Their second string work was soemwhat similar. I'd say its neck and neck or slight edge to Yates. No knock on Case though, I love what he's doing.

Swewringer looking much better out there. Funny to see the reactions to people calling that a dirty hit...

Equally funny to see people asking for Schaub to be traded. My how distant the Texans of old seem to be...and Schaub is a HUGE part of that.

Gotta love Cushing. As I said before, this defense will probably be better than last year's. I'm a little worried about pass coverage, but Ed Reed should help.

I hope Hopkins is good to go.

Pass reflections happen and they definitely happen to Brees. Case is actually pretty good about not getting his passes tipped.

Some of y'all need to get over Yates past and judge this fairly.

Keenum gets the ball out quick and looks off defenders in the process.

Last night TJ was staring down WR's, just burning holes in there jerseys. He made good throws yes, but it is third string defenders who won't be in the league in two weeks.

Read the Texans quotes, they are taking notice in the midget qb from U of H.

Jefferson seems to be in line to make the team, although I say Tuggle should land on practice squad, he showed flashes as being a good all around linebacker.

I do wonder how many spots they will hold for the OLB position, because Brahman is indeed a good special teams player and given our Special teams coach, we need all the talent we can get for that segment of the game.
