Warren Sapp just said that Shane Lechler is the greatest punter in NFL history. He said he was even better than Raider great, Ray Guy. What say you moes?

I know it is just one person's opinion, but it does make me feel better about our questionable ST unit.

How big of an impact do you think Lechler will have on our team this year?

First of all, what the hell does Sapp know about punting?

Second of all, he may be right.

Punting wasn't an issue last year. It was more Kickoffs, lack of touchbacks, Kick Returning. I guess that's the direct result of letting go two probowl kick returners in the same year.

On punt returns, Keshawn Martin averaged more yards/return last year (12.1) than Jacoby Jones did in any year of his career (10.0 average, 9.2 last year). On kickoff returns, Martin averaged far more yards/return (23.9) in Houston than Holliday (19.4).

The special teams problems in Houston had very little to do with who was returning kicks. It was (and is?) a much deeper issue than that.

Time to start putting up the Shane Lechler billboards next to the JJ Watt ones. Best freaking ever!

Ive always thought Shane was arguably the best ever in his prime. He hasnt been quite that dominant the past few years. He can also throw the ball.

He was right at his career avg last year and he was still able to kick a long of 68 last year as well.

I really think he will give our defense so much help this year as he moves teams further back toward their end zone.

Plus he is an A&M kid as well.

I agree. His resume wasn't quite good enough until his alma mater changed from a Big 12 to SEC school.
