Ok, planning another trip to Vegas 9/13-9/16. The dates are locked in for 2 reasons...

My buddy turns 50 that week.
    TAMU vs. Bama.

Unfortunately, its also a big fight weekend which means its more expensive than a typical Vegas weekend. Its Mayweather Jr. vs. Alvarez. Knowing this, I have a question for you Vegas experts.

Does anyone in Las Vegas offer the PPV for free to their guests?

I.E. --Do hotels offer this to their guests or if I want to see the fight do I need to pony up the dough and head to MGM?

Hotels will offer viewing parties in their larger venues. Expect to pay a cover of about $20-$40 to watch it. Supposedly thousands of people show up for these parties so it creates a pretty good atmosphere.

Even better. Don't mind paying the $ for a good party in Vegas.

    Thanks.

Even better is that it's usually free at The Venetian Sports book. The rub is that it's generally hard to find a seat.

I'm here now, btw, ditching Kwame to continue suffering my terrible poker losing streak...and railing the WSOP until it gets to the final table. Sorry Kwame. I'll be free as soon as break out of this slump.

Mark Jackson and his family at my hotel (he's in blue):

I walked right by him...sorry for the far away pic but 1) I wanted to respect his privacy bc he was with his kids 2) I was in a rush and 3) I was about to yell "Hand down, man down" but I wimped out.

    csb :)

Here's my latest cw(ife)sb...wifey went out with girlfriends last night to one of the local pubs close to where we live. One of the friends brought SO who knows a little bit about things. He recognized that there was an older African-American gentleman sitting across the room that he knew. My wife was intrigued and asked who he was. I guess the guy across the room saw this and came over to the group and said he saw my wife looking over at him and asking questions. He introduced himself as Mr. Leon and asked if my wife knew who he was. She said no. Then he asked if she wanted to take a picture with him. She politely declined (big mistake).

Apparently, my wife was just introduced and co-mingling with Leon Spinks. When she came home, she asked if I had ever heard of him. I flipped out and said she should've gotten pics and autographs. lol. I guess he lives somewhere close by and frequents that pub...so maybe we'll see him around at some point. I even had to look up his fight record...and didn't realize he had beaten Muhammad Ali.

That's the second ex-heavyweight champion boxer that my wife has met on a whim. The first was Mike Tyson at Chuck E. Cheese.

    /cwsb

;tldr: wifey met Leon Spinks...had no clue who he was.

Visiting another state in the US for the first time ever and I decided to go to Las Vegas! This will also be the first time I get on an airplane.

I leave in two weeks and so far the only thing I have plan is the Dam tour, a Penn & Teller show and maybe the Grand Canyon tour.

Where is a good place to look at other tours or activities? Groupon, the lasvegas website?

Went to P&T a few years ago (scored tix by donating blood...excellent trade-off). Show was pretty good. They're both pretty cool guys...after the show, they go out into the foyer/hallway and do a semi meet-n-greet. They both seem like pretty nice guys.

As for getting good ideas for what to do...check this entire thread (and the other half dozen Vegas threads that have been created)...Vegas.com does a pretty decent job telling you what's going on.

I did the Dam tour and it was already pretty long. I can't imagine the Grand Canyon tour giving you much time to see anything.

I’m going for a week and I figure the first few days I do some tours. That’s why I’m going in August because it’s cheaper and I can get all the touristy tours out the way early and see some show later in the week.

www.viator.com has activities you can do/buy around Vegas. The reviews for their hot air balloon trip make me want to go, but I just haven't yet.

I've heard mixed things about Hakaassan, but mainly heard that it was butt expensive. Apparently "The Light" at Mandalay is the new place to check out. My plate is full the rest of the year, so it looks like I might not be out there until NYE.

Doesn't the Hakaassan have like three tiers of VIP service? Regular VIP, Ultra VIP and Super VIP (or whatever its called). I thought I heard that. Anyone know?

I really really wanted to see it, but the last time I was there in July I had all this charity thing, other things that the group had planned...there was just no time. MJ, Love, and the hot air balloon are on my Vegas to-do list.

    BUMP

Going to Vegas this weekend for the first time

I'm going with a group of 4, staying at Treasure Island, getting there Friday morning and leaving Sunday night. Anything special happening this weekend? We're all 24-25 and just looking to party and have a good time. Friend is now an official CPA so this is his reward.

Any advice on shows, clubs/night-scene, activities, and anything else to do would be appreciated!
