I'm just wondering why he's shooting less than 40%. Hell, why is he shooting less than 48%, like any respectable PF should be doing? But, one step at a time, right? Hakeem is putting up 6.33 shots a game in 24.6 mpg. Thomas is putting up 6.14 shots a game in 22.9 mpg. This raises the question: "Should Thomas be shooting as much (more per minute) as the Dream? And, if so, shouldn't he be hitting somewhere near 50%? I see that he's shot 2 of 9 from 3-pt land, but that's one thing he needs to stop doing. It won't change his overall FG% over the long-run (stopping that is), but he doesn't hit nearly enough of them to justify shooting them. The main argument for Thomas is that he has such good footwork and positioning. But, if that's true, then why the heck can't he hit his shots? ------------------ "I have a DREAM.........his name's Hakeem." DREAMer's Rocket Page
I think many of those threes are not fully KT's fault. Often, he gets the ball back there with little time left on the shot clock - he is open, so he shoots...and misses. KT was abusing both Fizer and Brand yesterday, doing all kinds of sick moves to get to the basket. Problem is, once he was there, he would miss lay-ups. Something just seems to be off with him right now. He is playing very aggressively and, excluding those 3's, should definitely be taking all of those shots. Once he stops blowing layups, he will easily improve his FG%. It really is odd, he should have had about 16-18 points last night, but kept blowing it. Obviously, he does not suck so much that he can't make those shots, I guess he is juts rushing it? Too excited/aggressive? ------------------ EZLN
He needs to start dunking the ball. After throwing it down a few times he can build his confidence back and maybe hit some mid range shots. As an undersized power forward I think he should watch tape of CB4. I'm not saying that he has any chance to be as good as Big Sexy, but Sir Charles would be a good player from whom KT could try to get post up moves, rebounding techniques, etc. ------------------ Don't come in Bullard's house!
Kenny has an alright outside shot and shouldnt shoot from three point range so much but right now thats what the defense is giving him and until he drains a few thats all he will be getting. He has nice low post moves and a very fast 360 move he goes to and I think he should go to it more.He also needs to crash the boards when a teammate puts up a shot! Has anyone else noticed his ability to block shots has improved,I have seen him get like 3 or 4 blocks where I didnt even see him near the play! I think he will come around! ------------------
I think the team is better with him on the Floor than with Mo sometimes. He's better defensively and the drop off offensively is not that great Rocket River ------------------
I don't know with any more certainty than any of the rest of you why KT is having such trouble finishing. My theory is that he is rushing his shot just a little after he makes those nice moves. For those of you who have played, (everybody) you should know just how little you have to rush your shot to throw it off. KT is shorter than most in the paint and can't elevate enough to compensate. I think he's rushing the shot a little, trying to get it off before it's blocked. ------------------
Am I wrong or isn't Kenny T supposed to take those threes?! The Rockets' offense is all about spacing and getting the ball to the open man. KT is on the three point line to clear out the lane for Francis/Mobley/Mooch. He shoots them, because he's open. I mean that's the offense, right? ------------------
I will admit that I just have not paid that much attention to KT yet this year. If you take out KT's 2 for 9 from 3ville, he's shooting 44.2%. With enough attempts, that would almost get him into the league's Top 50. But your real question is "What's wrong?". IMHO, he needs a mid-range jumper that he takes when the defender is least expecting it. His moves takes to long to develop (allowing weakside help to get there) and border on predictable. He needs to make the move quickly and rise up when the defender is back on his heels. ------------------ GATER
Kenny LOVES the outside shot. When I watched him at New Mexico, he shot it consistently, and that was when the opponent was a little smaller than it is in the NBA. Anybody who shoots as many outside shots as him doesn't approach a really high percentage, but he should be shooting better than 40. EVERYBODY should be shooting better than 40, or else they should stop shooting the ball. ------------------ Jazzkiller
KT simply likes shooting 3's, plain and simple. Everytime he gets the ball at the 3 point line watch as his defender backs off and gives him room to shoot. It happens EVERY TIME!! I agree, he needs to cut back drastically, if not completely on shooting 3's. Even if he didn't take on 3 pointer this season he would only be shooting 44%. Rudy needs to start making him run 20 laps, or even better yet, make him shoot 200 mid range jumpers for every 3 pointer he misses. ------------------ Only in America....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Don't discount the psychological effect Kenny gets by playing D. He even looks happier when he's engaged against a Big Man. This is a kid who gets pumped at the prospect of playing guys like Tim Duncan and ShaQ - that's playin' time... A Big Ego can help a young,(relatively) small, swing-foreward like KT. If only the refs would help him out a bit... He reminds me of Chuck without the attitude. We can't exactly force the guy to get an attitude, can we? If it's worth a few foul shots per game,then... Rudy will supply that in time. ------------------
Yeah Dreamer, Kt's whole persona on the court is a bit discouraging more often than nought, like puzzled astonishment which reverts to laughter, then gilly-gaggin with Carlos Rogers on the bench; kick some freakin chairs over for Chrise sakes. His moves are there and the shots are right-on, but they always end-up clunkin', o rattlin', or spinnin' out of the rim. I don't know what the deal is but ya think he would un-hunch his shoulders an crane his neck out of its socket a little after the 100th miss an tump over some gatorade. You know what i think it is, you know how when players backup from free-throw shots just after the balls released? Well, thats what KT's does when he is close to the basket. He kinda does a incomplete finger roll mixed in with a fading away free throw- uh course i could be completely wrong. ------------------
I LOVE KT but something is definately wrong and its not his shooting. Kenny Thomas travels 99.99% of the time. His awesome low-posts moves are nothing more than changing his pivot foot more than 10 times. Now don't get me wrong if the refs ain't blowing the whistle their ain't nothing wrong with it, but I just have the feeling that come crunch time in a big game its going to hurt us. I can remember one specific game last year against the Lakers on NBC where the refs just singled him out and called it every time. I really hope he becomes a good enough offensive player to not get called for it otherwise he is going to have to go back and start from scratch. I don't know maybe its nothing but I think he will start getting called for it more and more as we start giving him the ball down low. Am I the only one who notices this? ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
