..."but they are afraid." Pretty riveting story. a Basra Lawyer (husband of a nurse) sees Lynch slapped by Fadayeen colonel and tells her "Don't worry" and then walks 6 miles to tell the marines. walks back to map the hospital at their request; then walks back again to report. sorry if this was already posted...didn't see it http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/5552797.htm
That's one brave person putting everything on the line. I hope they are getting a marine escort to the refugee camp because with those pockets of resistance I wouldn't want to see their story end tragically. They know who he is apparently...according to the article and how they raided his home and possessions. Just think...an Iraqi wearing US military-based. They may stick out like a sore thumb. I hope they don't run into any of those evil-doers lurking. It's a great thing he did! He's a hero I do believe. Surf
That's remarkable. That is heroism personified. Sometimes people trancend themselves. This fellow certainly did that. Wow.
Same story, very slight different angle: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A23979-2003Apr3.html In the end, a Special Operations force of Navy SEALs, Army Rangers and Air Force personnel swooped in early Wednesday morning, while Marines staged a fake offensive elsewhere around Nasiriyah to distract attention of the Fedayeen and their allies. It was one of the few times an American prisoner of war has been successfully rescued in the last half century.
