What would be considered failure for the Rockets in 2013-14?

They are championship caliber with Asik. Without, not so much.

 

WCF, which is tough considering it means you beat one of SAS, OKC or LAC in a 7 game series.

 

What would be considered failure?

Remember how awful we were after back to backs?! I haven't counted how many back to backs we have, but that is going to be huge in our seeding, and playoff matchups

 

Very disappointing: 7-8 seed, First round exit
Mildly disappointing: 5-6 seed, Conference semis exit
Solid season: 3-4 seed, Conference finals exit

Of course I think there is an outside chance we could actually win the title, although next year would be more likely than this one.

I don't think advancement in the playoffs is measure of failure to me; it depends how the team goes out.

The largest failure that could happen to the Rockets to me is if team chemistry somehow implodes within a year. Whether that is Dwightmare v2, Beard grows ego, or Parsons/Lin getting butt hurt (puns intended). A McHell episode would be bad too, but coaching is an issue that can be remedied relatively fast.

 

If we don't get to the 2nd round -- I say we liquidate the team.

 

people really understimate okc. they had a huge point differential, injuries are what killed them. at the end of the day they have a guy who can turn on his god mode more than any player in the west.

i dont get those who are saying we should be a 5th seed. Last year without Dwight, we were almost 5th seed so we better be better or HUGE dissapointment

i think WCF or Dwight and Harden has some explaining to do

 

or Memphis; also a tough opponent. Heck even GSW would be tough in a series if they're healthy.

Have to agree. If Harden and Howard can't at least make the 2nd round, then no amount of tinkering will make this a championship team.

 

If Harden takes one more step forward he is at or near Durant's level though. If Dwight returns to 2011 form, he also is at or near Durant's level.

Durant is a top 2 player in the league, but don't underestimate our superstars either. Next year the top 5 could easily look like this

And I wouldn't be surprised at all.

 

As I said before. I think WCF is a great goal but I don't think it is the ideal expectation. If we were on the East, I would say that would be more likely but there a 5 or 6 really tough teams we are trying to rough it out with so depending on a 2nd round match-up, I wouldn't be that upset. Like if we had to somehow play OKC in the second round and we fall in 6 to them, I wouldn't call the season a failure.

 

If we took them to 6 when it's Harden VS Durant + 2 games of Westbrook, we ought to be able to do better than that when it's
