Larry Smith is 0-6 against playoff-contending teams. The Rockets play 4 more playoff teams in a row. Ouch.

theres one solution to the rockets problems..........

    JEFF VAN GUNDY!!!!!!!!!!

the rockets biggest problem is defense rebounding and disciplin.
gundy is a defense first coach and will not play players that dont play with the passion and heart that he demands. tonights leading rebouder was posey. are u kidding me????? hes a undersized sf and he is the leading rebounder? Eddie griffin is the softest starting pf in the nba. the games are at a point where its very frustrating to watch. we leave players hit OPEN 3's and the opposing teams always get 2nd chance points against us. there comes a point in time where there has to be a change and right now its coaching. weve had the same coaching for 10 years now and its time for a change.

 Being drafted by the rockets was the WORST thing to ever happen to Yao. The only way he develops is by getting the ball and the chance to go 1-on-1 with the best in the game and he's not getting none of that here. You don't learn to be a center by standing on the weakside while Mobley or whoever has half the court cleared out for him so he can ISO and turn it over. I'm tired of opposing teams' announcers laughing at how pathetic we are because we fail to recognize that almost everygame (except against LA or Spurs), we have an advantage at center. The bucks announcers tonight were having a hard time holding back from saying the rockets coaching staff is outright STUPID for not using Yao when Pryzbilla and Ervin "I'm not magic" Johnson were in major foul trouble and riding pine.

I really like how Larry Smith likes to put Yao in when the game is out of reach. I also like how he opts to go to MoT and have Yao standing and watching on the weak side in the corner. But what I like most is how everyone, except the houston coaches, see that Yao is our ticket to the win.

Larry Smith is playing notto lose

This, IMHO is the source of our vexation. Our guards have historically had the bad habit of getting involved in too many grudge matches with opposing, offensively prolific, guards (e.g. Payton and Cassell). However, Smith's poor substituting just adds further insult to injury.

I sincerely hope Mr. Smith visits this board and reads but a sampling of the posts here. bigballerj, texas stoke, and silvercatt all have the right idea. Yet I wonder if anyone is listening. Perhaps it's b/c we are fans who are detached and can see the problems objectively. Down there on the bench, no doubt Mr. Smith is under a lot of pressure to perform and get us into the playoffs. Under such duress, it's probably easy to lose one's objectivity.

Nevertheless, something is truly amiss when your top center can't even get his per-share looks in the 2H in the absence of a legitimate opposing center. Leaving Cato AND Yao out at the same time is something I personally, have never recalled, RudyT ever doing. My hunch is that b/c Karl was playing small ball with his small five, Smith felt compelled to match them by playing small ball too. Dumb Dumb Dumb, IMHO.

Mr. Smith, if you're listening out there, "Please play to our strengths and not to our weaknesses." Playing to win is not the same as playing not to lose. Something's gotta change with our attitude, else it's back to the lottery for us.

    :D

Our best 3 rebounders (Yao, EG, Cato) combined for only 58 minutes. We're going to be outrebounded by anyone with a small lineup.

At first I wasn't convinced that our lack of a real coach was the what was causing us all this hell. I'm convinced now. Damnit, come back Rudy. This time I say this only for selfish reasons!

drafting yao ming was the WORST thing that ever happened to these message boards. i'm tired of yao only fans. cant stand these people.

yao ming is not hakeem olajuwon. hes neither quick enough, strong enough, conditioned enough, or talented enough for the rockets to keep throwing him the ball every single time they are on offense.

Bullsh!t. Tell that to RudyT. Yao is smart enough that the whole team should pass to him on every offense play. Others are just dumb and dumber.

Backetball is a team game. It will be very boring to see Yao takes all shots and his teammates stand and watch on the other side.

Yao should shot more but not all.

Drafting Yao is the best thing that could've happened to Rox last year, worst thing that can happen to this MB, and no matter what any one else says, atleast a good thing for Yao. If you think Yao, especially the way he played the first few weeks of the season would get more playing time over chandler on the bulls, Folye on the warrirors, or Gasol on memphis, then you're sorely mistake. Heck, how many teams would even go to the length the Rox went to get him out of China?

Outside of maybe Steve Francis, who is better and more talented than Yao Ming on this current Rockets team? I hope you didn't think that Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, James Posey, Glen Rice, Mo Taylor and Kelvin Cato actually merited the ball over Yao Ming?

I agree that Yao is no where near Hakeem yet but he is only a rookie. He will improve.

Also, I don't think Yao should shoot every shot but you have to agree that he needs to TOUCH the ball more. Good things happen when he gets the ball. Besides, what other options do we have??? ISO Cat? Have Eddie shoot jumpers?

Relatively speaking, Yao is our best bet. Steve can only take us so far by himself...

I am so happy that I didn't watch the recent games. ;)

But, one word for the Rox coaching staff, sucks.

    I agree and disagree
Drafting Yao is the best thing that could've happened to Rox last year but not worst thing that can happen to this MB. :)

You have a lot of new members and a lot of potential new ROX fans.
Unfortunately, we are discriminated against by the labelling of "Yao-only fan".

I agree with you though that the rocket treat Yao well and it is a good thing for him to be draft by the rocket.

I hope that you're not naive enough to actually believe that there are people out here who think that Yao should take every single shot.
