All I heard was the Jay Mohr stuff. Seemed okay. Jay Mohr is a non-factor for me ultimately, I'm not listening to the radio during that time.
I do t thi I that's permanent I think it's just a shot at some of you in this thread who only like the no nonsense approach to sports talk (ala Charlie p). They are doing it the right way
Too lazy to read this entire thread, but I'd like to know how this news affects Josh Ennis, if at all. How sweet would it be if Josh was fired and Rich went back to join Charlie on 790. I always thought Rich and Charlie had a great show back in the day. It would be pretty sweet if they were reunited (and it feels so good...) after all these years.
That would be awesome - Rich is a good contrast to Charlie because he's so non-analytic. But I don't see Rich leaving the #1 rated spot and his comfy Texans gig. Also don't see how this has any effect on Ennis. 610 targets the casual fan and Ennis fits that mold.
Which one is Rich Lord again? Deep voice guy in the mornings? The one paired with Ennis I guess, the "you can't say that" guy?
Innes is affected in this way... His contract is up in 3 months. And now you have one of the most popular Houston radio personalities (who happens to be a former and highly regarded employee of 610) unemployed. In addition to that, this unemployed person is just like Josh Innes (younger, pop culture driven, class clown type), only actually good at his job.
It won't, trust me. It only gets worse and worse. Wait until his "Hollywood impersonations" start. Horrible.
They just did. I can't believe we lost Matt and Adam for this guy. What time does the Matt Thomas show start?
If the show name is any indication, get ready for the d*ck n' fart happy hour of Houston radio. Everybody who crapped on Matt J for going off topic, prepare your anuses. And yeah Jay Mohr just uttered these words, "Johnny Manziel goes to University of Texas Tech frat parties." *dial changed*
We get a daily 2 hour dose of Matt Thomas starting at 2. We shall see how it works out, weird not having his show on right now.
Just tweeted this to @sports790. Not that they care but.... Its so easy changing stations now that Matt Thomas is not doing the noon show.
I guess I'll never understand the Houston radio market listeners. I listen to a lot of sports talk and I don't see how some of you complaining can stand to listen to the same local topic beaten into the ground on every station for the most part. I love the fact that there is some national talk as a diversion now. I also flip around to listen to Dan Patrick and John Feinstein from time to time as they have to pull to bring in some big name interviews. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I hate that Wex and MJ got the axe. I listened to their show every morning. I'm glad they kept Matt Thomas on, even though it's for one hour less because I think he has the best interaction among callers than anyone else in the market. That said, I was pumped when I heard Jay Mohr was coming to Houston. I'd be willing to bet a lot of you hate him because of his affiliation with Rome. That shouldn't even play into it. Unlike Rome, Mohr seems quite likeable. His show is well produced with high energy. I'm sure some of his shticks and impersonations will get old now and then, but I think it's more of a plus than a negative. I also subscribe to his podcasts, Mohr Stories, and listen to those from time to time. He has a studio in his garage and has had comedians and guys like David Lee Roth over and has some epic 1 hour plus shows. They guy is hard working and knows his stuff. Maybe like Jim Rome says, give the show a couple weeks first to really assess it before writing it off.
I've never heard his radio show before but I've always been a fan of Jay Mohr as a comedian. I did listen to his OD interview and I thought it was pretty descent, albeit could have had more football talk.
