It's hard to see how TJ "tripped", then yelled "Wake-up" followed by a "nudge" that resulted in a minor injury to the homeless guy when the officer reported witnessing something different. Lifting his foot up and "stomping" on the guy.

I mean, would a cop make that up - in this day an age anything is possible. But it seems highly unlikely.

TJ did something wrong here. The right thing to do would have been to apologize to this man but he can't because of the criminal charges.

To me regardless, it shows a weakness of character. As an NBA player - you are privileged to get to play a game for money - and good money. You are also under scrutiny and anything you do is under scope. But to treat other people in a lower station in life, far lower, with any kind of contempt is just sad. Really sad. And it's hard to root for a guy to do well when he acts this way towards others.

Frankly, I don't think he's that much of a basketball player. I am sure he will be able to weasel his way out of this situation, and I am sure being 21 the Rockets will give him a 2nd chance. Hopefully he learns from this - but I have lost whatever respect I had for this guy and would be happy to see him play for someone else.

THE OFFICER HAS ALREADY RELENTED ON THE "STOMP" POINT. It is not in the actual charging document. I don't know how many times this needs to be said. If the officer were comfortable enough in his version of the story to testify to the "stomp" angle, you can bet your ass it would be in the charges. There's no likely or unlikely to it. There's a description of the incident, and it isn't there. Period.

I agree that either way, it shows a weakness in character. The difference is, I think the vast majority of professional athletes, especially at 21, have similar weaknesses. If that were enough for me to lose all respect for them and hope they go elsewhere, I don't see the point in following pro sports to begin with. These are flawed people... hopefully he matures over the years and learns from this.

P.S. Anything can be a "minor injury" -- even an alleged bruise that's virtually unnoticeable. All we know about the "minor injury" was that it didn't require medical attention. Given that, it's wise not to draw too many conclusions until more evidence comes out.

I don't think we should expect less of them than our peers because somehow they are "flawed people".

I am suspect as to why the officer has relented. Nevertheless we will see what happens.

It's amazing seeing how people just look at a headline, form their opinion, and then completely shut down to new information after.

Are people still in this thread acting like Jones shot a newborn baby?

Dude what is your problem? Why do you hate a 21 year old kid based on some erroneous information? Why don't you just chill the F out.

TBH with you, I do not really care if you have lost all the respect for him or not. But to a degree I understand where you going with this.
    But know this:
Terrence would be a jerk if he did that on purpose but I don't think it was his motivation to hurt this man. Most reports are saying it was rather an accident than assault.

He was out having a good time, enjoying one of the free days in his young career.
He is no Royce White, he worked all season long and did all what the Rockets required of him. Unfortunately he stepped on this man's leg.
Fortunately that man got out uninjured and that is all we should know.

Your moral standard you can keep to yourself until you have further proof that Terrence is a Homeless Hater.

Nice to see you posting here again sir.

I do think though that TJones is probably just acting crazy while drunk. Not condoning the action, but I do not think he is a scum bag.

At this rate, pretty soon we will be arguing that he was set up by Mark Cuban.

If the original report of "stomping" is not true, then Terrance looks a whole lot better.

Homeless people aren't all innocent as they like to portray. I once saw a group of hobos break into a Prius and have an orgy. True story.

Whatever - you guys act like every cop is a lying crook and defend the player you are a fan of blindly because you don't want to believe they are these types of folks. New information? Because the cop is being PC now and not trying to stir the pot? Really?

    Give me a break.

People here get all bent out of shape because I think TJ is a thug for pulling that maneuver. I don't care if it was a stomp, kick, nudge or whatever. It only is degrees of A-hole-ness. You leave homeless people alone.

You only think this way because you want someone else to start over him. Why else would you be going off on something that has already been deemed a non-story. The only thing keeping this story alive are people like yourself who had already formed a biased opinion toward him. The truth matters, not what you think.

So you aren't keeping this alive with your post here? Haha, classic. It's a freaking message board, the whole point is to post opinions. And let me tell you something, yours are some of the worst so I have no idea how you can complain.

Yes, I love hobo's! They are so cute and cuddly.

You're accusing people of blindly taking Jones side but you are doing the exact same thing as them on the other end of the argument. You have no idea what happened that night. You're accusing people of calling cops crooked but now you're acting like something is fishy because the cop is pulling back the "stomped" remark. So now they are crooked? Maybe Jones is a complete a-hole, I've never met the man, but I certainly can't judge it over this very incomplete story. But you've already vilified him based on a headline that's since been redacted. Doesn't really make a lot of sense.
