Asked if it is possible to hit a 7-foot-5 center in the throat by accident, Cato said, "Hell no," and then walked away.

"The guy is 7-6," Mutombo said. "He's almost three inches taller than me. I can't believe my elbow reached his neck. I thought maybe I would just get it between his chest and stomach and I would box him out. The next thing I know, he's on the floor.

    "I told him, `Get up.' "

Yao did. The bulk of the Rockets, however, meekly took whatever the Nets delivered.

man, aren't you suppose to say "sorry" instead of "get up"

Didn't Cato and Dikembe get in a fight liek 2 or 3 years ago? Dikembe gives lots of cheap shots and complains about it.

Coolpet you should hurry up and do a post to get off that number!!;)

In Mutombos defense that r****d is so uncordinated that it might not have been on purpose. Watching him run, dribble or trying to post up is just sickening.

How tall is Mutombo, cause he said Yao is 7'6 and "almost" 3 inches taller than him; is he 7'3 or 7'3 1/2?

    Mutumbo can't add.

He's listed as 7'2" and since he said Yao is 7'6" that would be 4 inches taller than him not "almost 3."

Even if Mutumbo thinks he's 7'3" that doesn't equate to "almost 3."

Did any of our players even try to back Yao up???

I didn't watch the game but I will be extremely dissapointed if no one got in Mutumbo's face.

I watched the replay and Mutumbo did that on purpose. he tried to sever Yao's jugular vein with his elbow. brother should be fined for that cheap shot.

    I'm glad this happened.

I just hope it adds a mean streak to Yao.

I want to see Yao play with a chip on his shoulder.

    Welcome to the NBA brother.

I watched it and it was a well aimed elbow - no accident.

Call it dirty, toughness or whatever. MENTALLY TOUGH IS WHAT THE ROCKETS ARE NOT. They go meekly into the night and simply point fingers at each other.

No chance for this immature team (except Yao, Rice, MoT) unless we get a "turnaround" coach who instills ME instead of WE into this selfish bunch.

    Les.........figure it out, and soon.

This comment doesn't make any sense!!

Shouldn't he be elbowing Yao towards the lower stomach/croch area instead of the neck if he thinks he's hitting Yao in the chest? Yao's taller not shorter. He probably tried to elbow him in the face but missed because he didn't realize Yao is so tall and just hit his throat?
