I second that. UGGGH! One medium avocado has about 35 grams of fat in it, that's more than a Big Mac...I don't care how much of that is 'good' fat, it will still put the pounds on you regardless of the HDL improvement.
I guess it's a good thing I had avocado-avocado "sushi" earlier today. "Crab" su**** with avocado with extra avocadowrapped around. I could use the fat anyway. I'll worry about my health when I'm (insert member name here)'s age . Oh and a great quick thing with avocados is slice them in half, take out the pit, and put italian dressing (I use Seven Seas Viva Italian) Here's a recipe link if you can't afford the bottle, and/or a fat-free recipe, btw. If anyone makes the dressing, tell me how it is, cuz I might make it someday. "Mon avocat est un avocat."
More fat than a Big Mac or more total calories? I would venture to guess it is pretty hard to overindulge in avocados, Freak, if you find yourself eating 3+ whole one's a day then you might want to rethink that.
Ohhhhhhh...still full from a 6:00 home made taco fest!!! Yeah, you wish you were me. 2 for $1.00 ripe avocados at HEB. I'm $5.00 poorer and $1.00 fatter!!!
It's been well documented that mono unsaturated fat is key to breaking down stored fat in the body. Obviously you're not supposed to go on an all 'good' fat diet, but it should be included. Avacodo's are a great source of this type of fat. So is olive oil. In fact, the 'Zone Diet' is based on a balanced meal consisting of 30/30/40, that is 30% Fat (preferbly good), 30% Protein, 40% Carbs. The idea behind it is that by eating a balanced diet, your insulin level remains balanced and your hormones stay level. You don't get that sleepy feeling after lunch or dinner. You feel full because of the fat content. I tried this diet out of curiousity. I by no means need to lose weight. This diet provided a plan for me by calculating body fat, weight and bone span (measured wrist). I was to eat 6 times a day....lol. I did feel more alert and had longer stamina playing ball. I just couldnt stick to eating my meals and calculating 'blocks'. Anyways....Hell yes, eat an Avacado....I wish I had one right now!!
Hey Scar, thanks for the concern, but I'd say I only eat maybe 3-4 a week now, rather than 3 a day. I should be okay I guess.
