A powerful scene in which he shows his transformation from the "That's my Family, not me" mentality to Godfather. But then Puzo (director) completely throws it sideways by having Sonny (James Caan), like a typical older brother, belittles Michael and his plan. "Ey, whataya gonna do, nice college boy, eh? Didn't want to get mixed up in the Family business, huh? Now you wanna gun down a police captain, why, because he slapped ya in the face a little bit? Hah? What do you think this is the Army, where you shoot'em a mile away? You've gotta get up close like this and bada-bing! you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit. Come're..." Now THAT'S what I call a gangster film scene

Well, it's close to the book because Mario Puzo wrote both the book and the screenplay. He won the Best Adapted Screenplay for the first two movies, btw.

Think Tango & Cash falls more into the cop movie genre. Its one of my favorite movies ever because it has so many horrible 1 liners. And who can forget that badass truck. I ways really disappointed that teri hatcher didn't flop out her droopy pancake t*tties though.
"Casino? Ca-seen it! And I liked it better when it was called Goodfellas!" - David Spade I enjoyed Casino, actually. To me, Goodfellas is far and away the best gangster movie. From the background narration telling the story...to the very end where he sums it all up as they're being broken apart. I have a buddy who is related to a crime family from Chicago. The grandson of a guy who did some really awful stuff. He says his dad always says that you can be entertained by other mob movies...but if you want to know how it was, watch Goodfellas. Would anyone consider the film, "A Prophet", high up there? I don't recall anything as recent as this being on a great level as the films discussed in this thread. A Prophet is awesome and I would even include the Australian film "Animal Kingdom" up there.
Good flick, kind of flew under the radar. I might get killed for this, but I think Scarface is overrated. Godfather II for the win.
