You guys are amazing, Steve has completely changed his game to fit this team (something everyone said had to be done for this team to go anywhere) and your still b****in.
Honesty, at this point in the season I wish Steve would actually look to score more and carry the team more on his back offensively. Especially with Yao, Mo, and Cat being so inconsistent. Especially against some of the lesser teams, I think the Steve of old can carry us by himself if Yao doesn't show up.
In a trade, I'll take Steve over Allen, Jermaine, Gasol, Payton, and Carter. Straight up. If I want to win games and age is a factor, I'll take Steve over those guys. May even take him over Nowitzki, though I love good shooters.
I think the coach smith is too bad, he will never know how to use the talent center Yao ,how can he win the game ? I love rocket, but not smith.
I might agree with you on Allen and Carter. They haven't gotten to the point of really winning or leading consistently, and are both somewhat injury prone. But take age out of it and Payton is clearly better. And there's no way I would take Steve over Jermaine O'Neal. Gasol is a big man who can score is consistently down low, that's too rare these days to pass up.
in the past three game, Yao is not on his way, but should his teamates help him and give more chance to him?if not, the rocket have to say goobye to the offseason.
Damn, Fegwu, I didn't know you hated Franchise so much. Get over it, buddy. You refuse to give Stevie Franchise credit despite improved play over the second half! What's that about? What if the thread said 'Ming Dynasty' and went on and on about Yao being the team's franchise player? Would you b**** so much about the "franchise" tag being thrown around? Of course not. Get over yourself, 'wu. Oh, and it doesn't surprise me you never referred to the Franchise as the franchise ever since he became a Rocket b/c I seriously doubt you were even a fan of the ROCKETS before Yao was drafted. BTW -- just a little rhyming lesson for ya: Franchise doesn't rhyme with Francis. Can you imagine a rapper trying to rhyme that??? "My favorite player is Stevie Franchise; but his name is Stevie Francis." *lol* Now I know the lyrics are Vanilla Ice-esque, but I just wanted to show how stupid that would sound. Much like your argument, huh?
Agreed on Payton. If he were 25, I'd take him over alot of guys. I think Steve has alot more potential than O'neal. Love Gasol's game, but his team is arguably more talented than Steve's. But, where are they in the standings?
cato may be a good choice at one night, but in total season, can we rely on him? I don't think so. and u?
But you can't take age out of it. I mean, that is one of the main sticking points for the Spurs to keep Tony Parker and not go after Jason Kidd -- the age difference. Francis won't be Payton's age for another decade basically (almost nine years to be exact; SF just turned 26 - GP's 34 going on 35). And werent' the Bucks supposed to be better with the GP acquisition? More so than the offense, the defense was suppose to GREATLY improve. But not only have they not improved defensively, they've gotten WORSE. So GP's great years (I'm talking All-NBA yrs.) are probably behind him. Francis' great years (prime years) haven't even begun. But you're right about O'Neal. I love Stevie and he and Yao WILL be an awesome duo soon enough, but O'Neal is probably the best PF in the East and given the Rockets problem @ the 'four' he would be hard to pass up. Gasol....he's great as well, but not sure if I'd take him over Francis. Gasol is somewhat of a tweener. He's Eddie Griffin with skills! O'Neal is built this way as well, but he's so much tougher, stronger.
Yeah, I've noticed being too passive offensively sometimes and it hurts us (the Rockets) more so than helps in games when other's aren't hitting shots. The coaches have said a number of times they've had to tell Steve to be more aggressive offensively in some games. The SAC game and Utah game (both on the road) and LAL game (first @ home) is a perfect example of him taking over offensively and keeping us in games to win or winning games with his scoring. But he's also learning to mix his offense with setting others up better, as he had nine, seven, and 11 assist respectively in those high-scoring games; once he has it down, he'll be really great.
But our #1 is better than A LOT of team's #1's. And it's really unfair to compare b/c of the position Francis plays. Most team's #1's -- the guy's you names specifically -- either play SG, SF, PF, or C. Kidd is the only PG you named. Turn Francis loose -- i.e., let him play SG where he could jack up 20+ shots instead of the 16 he does now -- he would easily be as good as some of those #1's. And despite playing 'point' I think Francis is still a better all-around player than Allen, Carter, Payton, Iverson, Kidd, Gasol...the list goes on and on. And let's be real...What #1 is better than Shaq? *lol* Like I heard someone say before, if the MVP award was really given to truly the most valuable player, Shaq would've/should've won it by default EVERY year the past three seasons.
Starburys is much better than francis?.. give me a break.. the stats are slightly in favour of mr. starbury.. and you still have to factor in his enormous ego.. I think if he was on the houston rockets team, i'd probably think about supporting another team..
i can just tell fegwu is a biased Yao only fun(which mean...he doesnt care about this rox team) this dude is even tryin to take away our star player's nickname, m pretty sure he will shut himself up if Yao is labled the leader of this team
OMG, this biased Yao only fan says Starbury is much better than stevie??? i think only fans in arizona will say that in this country! do u(mr. fake rox fan)EVER c any PG or player rankins from ESPN or SportingNEWS??? stevie is ahead of marbury on EVERY single player ranking!!
does it matter who's better than who? they both haven't earn jack. All they've done in this league is lose year after year. At least Steph lost in the playoffs i guess...I don't know if that is worth anything though.
Yeah, Starbury loss in the playoffs, WITH Kevin Garnett. Then, instead of wanting to build a great tandem w/KG, Steph' was selfish and couldn't stand playing second fiddle and wanted to be 'Da Man" of his own team, so he bolts. And instead of turning the Nets into an East Contender (crappy conference), he alienates just about everyone on the team (Van Horn, Martin, Kittles, Byron Scott, et al) and is traded for Kidd -- who takes, essentially, the same team to the Finals. And now the Suns are battling for the 8th spot when, if they had Kidd, they'd be a middle-of-the-pack Western Conference team (like the aforementioned KG T-Wolves) as usual like when Jason was there. For Marbury it's been three teams in seven years. Coincidence? I think not. And he's just now making the Nets-Suns, Marbury-Kidd swap look somewhat even. **And if you think Yao doesn't get enough touches now, try swapping Francis-Marbury -- you'd be trading 16+ shots from your PG Francis and getting 20+ shots from the new PG Marbury. THink this guy could "dial it down" for the sake of Yao's development? Marbury averages more assist b/c his pass is usually a spot up shot for another player or sometimes with the clock running down. Francis passes to guys (like Posey, Taylor, Moochie, Mobley) who don't know the meaning of spot-up shooting, save Cat sometimes and Rice.** Francis has been in the league three years less than Marbury and in his second season really took a team that had NO BUSINESS contending in the West to the brink of making the playoffs, barely missing out on the 8th spot with the most wins by a non-playoff team. His third season it looks like we (the Rockets) were going to make the playoffs, but Francis gets injured and the Rox lose something like, 14 straight games without him and their overall record without him last year was Nuggets-esque. You can certainly say Francis' team's are worse W/O him....can you say the same about Marbury? Hmmmmm....
I never said anything about whoever is better. They will forever be compared to each other though because of their similar skills/abilities and playing styles. I can't, and either can anyone else, say who the better player is until one of them achieves something great. Hmm...getting out of the 1st round of the playoffs maybe. On another note...the suns have no business even contending for a playoff spot this year but they're doing it...you can't give all the credit to amare can you?
I think it is not really Amare, though he is a big factor there as well since he gives the Suns an inside presence just like what Yao Ming is giving us...... but we don't have a really good 2nd option like Shawn Marion..... that is really a very good player which can basically do anything on the court.... compare him to any of our player, if u can find one from the Rockets to compare with....
