I despise the Lakers, but man, Kobe is by far the toughest player in the NBA. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...angeles-lakers-return-preseason-jim-buss-says Of course this remains to be seen though, but if there's anyone who can comeback from an injury that quickly, it's Kobe Bean Bryant.
That's real good... try to rush a 35 year old back from one of the worst injuries possible. NOBODY is the same after an achilles tear. ACL's and microfracture can take some out of the player, but the younger they are they usually bounce back to most of their former self. Achilles are another story... and add his age and he's going to get another injury trying to rush back from this one. I'd really like ESPN to tell me why Derek Jeter, A-Rod and Kobe are supposedly different than any other 35+ year old player trying to hang on and put up just one more good year. EVERYBODY succumbs to time.
Kobes career as we know him is over..if he comes back..it will most likely be in a grant hill type of role..
Preseason starts in October right? Ruptured Achilles takes 10-11 months to recover from, and Kobe is coming back in half that time? I admire his work ethic but coming back so soon? This can't be good.
Beckham came back quickly from his tear and was just as good as he was when he tore it -- he was already losing a step, but he was about the same age.
i hope he comes back early and averages 30 too. it would guarantee no wiggins for the fakers and also probably deter any max free agents from wanting to play with his ballhogging ass too
"Well, we're in Vegas, and I would bet a lot of money that this guy comes back probably in preseason," Buss said. And I say this is the kind of statement to ensure the NBA does not expand, or allow a franchise relocation, to Las Vegas.
Won't happen but I love it. The lakers are done contending as long as KB24 is on the team. He is going to drag them down with his attempts at besting MJ's achievements even if he has to play 25 seasons to do it.
Buss, Jr. is just trying to keep season ticket holders and the media that are invested in huge contracts with the Lakers happy. That time table, from what I've read, anyway, is entirely unrealistic.
The thing I don't understand is...why is Kobe rushing to return when he knows the Lakers won't be contenders this upcoming season. Is the competitor in him choosing to ignore that fact?
you know if kobe had to insert some fossilized sabertooth sperm to get his ready, he'd do it. overrehabbing the new over training.
So many comparison fails... 1.) Basketball vs. soccer 2.) EPL-La Liga-Italian league vs. MLS (Beckham already was marginal to be playing in the former at the time of his injury during his loan to Milan). 3.) Beckham's ability at 35 vs. his ability at 25. The differences lie in the fact that Kobe was still playing at a very high level... close to his prime. I'm not saying he will never play again, but while he's been playing at a level that's probably 3-4 years younger than he actually is... that's all about to catch up with him and then some. I'm sure he could go to Europe and still be one of the best players in the league there... that would make the comparison more relevant.
