Rockets is on list of best 10 team logos in sports

Does nobody realize that it's a rocket blasting off??

The old one is very generic and poorly designed. If we were a joke of a franchise when that logo was around everyone would hate it. It has more nostalgic value than anything.

Those uniforms for the most part were timeless though.

 

I don't trust a top ten that includes Detroit and San Diego logos, but no Dallas Cowboys logo...the star should be up there with New York in terms of exposure and national recognition. And, even though New York is obviously the best seller...I hate to see any list with New York at the top.

Yes it's clearly supposed to be a rocket lifting off, but because of the aforementioned similarity to the Buffy logo, I always subconsciously see it as blood drips

 

I'd take the new GSW logo over the Mariners or Celtics.

 

Seeing all the hubbub in the uniform threads it seems going retro is favored by those who care...I hope they go retro myself...I think the bloody R is past its sell-by date and hasn't really stood up well to the test of time.

Here's my retake on the classic logo, reworked with a few modern touches...the idea was to have the logo better reflect the attributes of zooming around space (even though you can't actually see the rocket itself), to give off a planetary/eclipse/orbit vibe, all the while maintaining the classic look and feel of the previous logo. The wordmark here is also modernized - but still pays homage to the old font by virtue of the lowercase 't' standing taller than the rest of the letters.

Secondary logo and unis to follow eventually...

 

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I like simple, iconic logos. To me, the absolute worst logo in the entire NBA is the Mavs'.

 

It's terrible.

 

The brought in a fetish ckstume designer to make our logo and uni. What could go wrong? Les has the worse aesthetic sense in the world.

Our less than a decade old logo going against a half century to a century of traditional logos?

Please, give us a bit more credit than that.

Celtics is one of the best, and yakees is just because of history.

As far as originality and creativity I would rank it in the top ten...

but this list is stupid and most should not even be in the top 30.

I mean did they only take in consideration Baseball, football and basketball? No euro soccer or international soccer. I could post 10 soccer logos that whoop all of these.

Its a combination of the retro logo, and our modern theme.

If this was put on our jerseys with the clutch city colors man...that would be so pimp.

 

The Blackhawks logo is missing. This list is absolutely invalid without NHL teams.

 

They didn't include the other Houston teams. I'd rate the Rockets last in the city...

 

It was fine in the mid-2000s, but now it just looks out of place with the retro movement. I can actually live with the logo if we get new uniforms though.

 

Top ten is hillarious.

I would rank it as the 3rd or 4th best in the city of Houston.
