I was concise with my statement, before. Lin may be currently better than Beverley, but there is nothing wrong about saying that there would not be much of a drop off if the two were interchanged. That's the whole point I'm trying to get across. Is this statement really that outlandish? Me thinks NOT
hard to be reasonable when everyone seems so emotional and polarized. i think PBev has definitely overachieved for someone with his background. and for him to come out of nowhere and do what he did excited a lot of people. he plays with a lot of heart and grit, and does not give ground or make it easy on anyone on defense. what is notable is that on a skills level - shooting, passing, tempo control, defensive fundamentals (he fouls a lot and wastes a lot of energy that makes his defensive play unsustainable if he is to play 30+ mins), he has a long way to go. some of the Bev excitement comes from Lin not quite living up to the very high expectations that both his contract and his Linsanity play brought about. it was the same thing when Toney Douglas was on the roster and the same thing that make people pine for Dragic and Lowry. Lin has obviously caused disappointment for some with his poor play in the first part of the season, inconsistencies throughout, a pathetic Game 1 of the playoffs, and his unfortunate injury. Add to this the incessant hyping of LOFs and there is a natural tendency for those disappointed/pissed to simply roll with the next available option at PG. We've seen how the Harden-Lin-Bev rotation, sometimes 3 of them together, worked wonders for the team near the end of the regular season. With Beverly hopefully getting more accustomed to his teammates, their tendencies and the sets, I am quite sure his assist totals will rise. More so if he gets his stroke improved, he can create even more for others. Same with Lin, if he really has worked on the weaknesses in his game - shooting, driving to the left, etc, he will be less of a disappointment and people will come around as the wins come. Of course, having Dwight helps take a lot of the pressure and focus off the PG spot, but the thing is, Bev and Lin can work together and it will be the natural course of things for the better player to remain the starter or get the bulk of the impact minutes since the coaches and their teammates will know who that guy will be and would be foolish to bench the better guy just because of what forum posters claim to know.
Beverley may turn out to be a great chip. In that case, the ROckets will be even more dangerous. Beverley's potential is probably a poor man's rajon Rondo/ Chris paul. He just isn't a bigger Guard Lin is.
Why are you guys still responding to the guy Vpballa916? You're not going to change his opinion over some aspiring comment. Just ignore him and enjoy your day looking up other threads over Lin. Please let this one die already.
DING DING DING! what a way to encapsulate a thread. You are a winner in my book. Everything that you said could not make more sense, or be explained any better. There really is nothing left to be said, after that. Good job, sir.
Nope you see these kind of post constantly trying to put the blame on ABJ. It's the coaches fault, the other players, global warming, blah, blah, blah. Jeremy Lin would be a star if the Houston Rockets would just get out of his way. That's why I am a LOFH.
LOL I thought Lin was a goner 70% in this team. Hopefully he will improve and maybe with the addition of Dwight. I hope he can run as a PG again. No need him to do crazy drives and score 15+ , just as long as he racks up those assits.
If there is not such a huge dropoff in production of Lin vs Bev if their roster spot interchange, then Morey would trade away Lin due to the HUGE discrepancy in their salaries. But he's still here and Harden wants Lin to be here, there's a reason for that. Harden acknowledge that Lin is a pivotal part of the team. So if the GM sees the importance of Lin. The franchised player sees the importance of Lin. What qualify you to think otherwise? In restrospect, Lin does not pass the eye test at all. I find myself a victim to being angry at him sometimes. When Bev miss a 3 pointer, I find myself disappointed. When Lin miss a 3 pointer, I find myself cursing. But I judge in the player evaluation of the most statistical GM and the best shooting guard of the league. I think you should too.
Nice to read the desperation of the Lin haters in this thread. Looking forward to their desperation over the next two years as we chase a ring.
The funny thing is, if you see him post something, most of the comments are "stfu scrub, go work on your shot"
