Lately it's been Mandy Moore's cover of XTC's Senses Working Overtime. Saw her on Kilborn or Conen the other night and can't get it out of my head. I'm gonna have to go get English Settlement again just to cleanse my pallette. Also Jimmy Fallon's stupid "I'm Your Boyfriend" song.

If anyone's ever seen the great local band JW Americana, they'll agree almost all their songs stick in the head for weeks. "I F***ing Love It, Man," "God God Dammit" and "La-La-La-Larry" especially.

Of course the worst song ever to get stuck in your head is The Munsters theme song. If I ever want to get rid of another song, I just remember that one.

lately, in the shower, ive been singing this old school rap song:

La di da di, we like to party.
We don't cause trouble, we dont bother nobody.
We're... just some men that's on the mic,
And when we rock upon the mic,
    We rock the mic (Right!).
For all a y'all, keepin' y'all in health.
Just to see ya smile and enjoy ya'self.
Cause it's cool when you cause a cozy conditionin',
That we create, so that's our mission, so listen,
To what we say because this type of **** happens everyday.
I... woke up around ten o'clock in the mornin',
Gave myself a (strech up), a mornin' yawn and...
Went to the bathroom to wash up,
Had some soap on my face and my hand upon the cup,
I said a (Mirror mirror!) on the wall...
Who is the top choice of them all?
    There was a rumble dumble,
Five minutes it lasted.... the mirror said,
    (You are you concieted b*stard!).
Yo that's true, that's why we never have no beef,
So then I washed off the soap and brushed the gold teeth.
Used "Oil of Olay" cause my skin gets pale.
Then I got the files, for my fingernails.
True to the style on my behalf
I put the bubbles in the tub so I could have a bubble bath.
Clean, dry, was my body and hair,
I threw on my brand new Gucci underwear.
For all the girls I might take home,
I got the Johnson's Baby Powder and the (Polo Colonge).
Fresh dressed like a millions bucks, threw on the Valley shoes
    And the fly green socks.
Stepped out the house, stopped short, oh no!
I went back in I forgot the...
Then I dilly (dally) ran through a (alley),
Bumped into my old girl (Sally) from the (Valley).
This was a girl playing hard to get
So I said "What's wrong?" cause she looked upset
She said uh, (It's all because of you)
Say what? (I'm feeling sad and blue)
She said what? (You went away)
And now, my life is filled with rainy days.
And I love you so, how much you'll never know.
Cause you took your love away from me.
Now what was I to do
She was crying over me and she was feeling blue
I said, "Don't cry, (dry, your eye)
Here comes your mother with those two little guys"
Her mean mother steps and says to me ("Hi!")
Hit Sally in the face and decked her in the (eye!)
Punched her in the belly, and stepped on her (feet)
Slammed the child on the hard concrete
The b**** was strong, the kids was gone.
Something was wrong I said what was going on?
I tried to break it up I said, stop it, leave her
She said, "If I can't have you (she can't either")
She grabbed me closely by my socks
So I broke the hell out like I had the chicken pox
But uh, she gave chase, she caught up quick
She put a finger in the face of MC Rick, and said
So we can go cruising in my OJ, and what?
I'll give you all my love today.
    What? Ricky Ricky Ricky what?
Somehow your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your jazzy ways
Yo MC Rick my love is here to stay"
And on and on and on she kept on
The b**** been around before my mother's born
I said, "Cheer up!" I gave her a kiss
I said, "You can't have me I'm too young for you miss"
She said, "No you're not," then she starts crying
I says, "I'm thirty-four", she says, ("Stop lying!")
I said, "I am -- go ask my mother
And with your wrinkled *ussy, I can't be your lover!"

This reminds of something today. I was at a track meet and some friends of mind had brought their sterio thing. They had been listening to a lot of rap and stuff, but then someone got out their Al Green and Marvin Gaye CD's. We put them in, cranked it up, and went around the place, getting weird looks from the athletes.

For some strange reason, I got part of some REALLY old song in my head. In fact, I don't even know its name. I just know something about "...Yummy,yummy,yummy....tummy....blah, blah." That's all I know. But I kept singing that yummy part to myself.

Well, as I struggle to write this damn paper, I must say that "The Essential Laura Branigan" is quite a listen!

I drove all the way to Nashville (about an hour drive) just so I could have "Self Control", but now I find other gems like "Solitaire" and "Ti Amo" (which I am listening to now).

I am going to go ahead and say this now...Laura Branigan has one of the best female singing voices that I have ever heard and I would rank her right up there with Kate Bush and Sarah McLachlan as one of my favorite female singers.

If all you know about her is "Gloria", I implore you to look deeper.

Damn...I meant "The Best of Branigan" and not "The Essential Laura Branigan"

I really, really wish that the edit button was working....*sigh*

I've been gettin that Jimmy Fallon song stuck in my head too. It started when this kid sung it and sounded exactly like Jimmy.

I thought that was Hot Hot Heat... My brother listens to them and they sing a song that goes "Oh,God God Dammit, I think I've lost you"

Tatu is running through my mind...but I really don't mind. :D

    "All The Things She Said"

    All the things she said
    All the things she said
    Running through my head
    All the things she said
    All the things she said
    Running through my head
    This is not enough

I'm in serious ****, I feel totally lost
If I'm asking for help it's only because
Being with you has opened my eyes
Could I ever believe such a perfect surprise?

I keep asking myself, wondering how
I keep closing my eyes but I can't block you out
Wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me
Nobody else so we can be free

    All the things she said
    All the things she said
    Running through my head
    All the things she said
    All the things she said
    Running through my head
    This is not enough
    This is not enough

    All the things she said
    All the things she said

And I'm all mixed up, feeling cornered and rushed
They say it's my fault but I want her so much
Wanna fly her away where the sun and rain
Come in over my face, wash away all the shame
When they stop and stare - don't worry me
'Cause I'm feeling for her what she's feeling for me
I can try to pretend, I can try to forget
But it's driving me mad, going out of my head

    Mother looking at me
Tell me what do you see?
    Yes, I've lost my mind

    Daddy looking at me
    Will I ever be free?
    Have I crossed the line?
