Why is it surprising? SAS is a very well spoken, intelligent, educated man.

Sometimes. At times he can be over the top and sometimes just flat out wrong. As is the life of most sports commentators.

I can't believe how intelligent and well spoken Stephen A is. He needs to be doing something more imporant than sports reporting.

Yeah, it's not like Zimmerman called the police.

True....since Rachel J was a ****ty witness. But for those who believe her, she did say that Trayvon approached Martin first in a confronting manner. Zimmerman said the same thing.

He did call the Police. The dispatcher gave fuzzy instructions twice when he asked GZ to "Let me know if he does anything" and "Just let me know if this guy does anything else". The dispatcher never once said for him to stay in the car despite what almost every Martin supporter is claiming. GZ got out of the car to keep an eye on TM. TM then started running. The Dispatcher heard wind noises from GZ's phone and asked him if GZ was following TM. This is the moment GZ was asked to discontinue following TM. GZ stated in a calm voice "ok".

"and let the Police handle it"

    You miss that part?

He actually was a political commentator for a while. Honestly I can't blame him for sticking to sports, a lot less stressful.

And he should have let them handle it. Getting out of the vehicle was a bad decision. He had a 0% chance of keeping up with Martin. Most likely outcome was going to be negative (him being subject to attack or the guy still getting away).

I thought they handled it fairly well. SAS was especially thoughtful and balanced: HOWEVER, I don't think a sports show was the right place for this discussion. I don't like sports mixed with politics of any kind. Just like on this board there is a D&D. Sports is entertainment and largely fantasy. I like it that way. If I want to deal with "serious" issues there are plenty of forums available.
