As with all things it takes time to evaluate what has been done in the past. It is simply easy to say that the Rockets lost out on the trade that sent that punk Scottie Quitten to the Blazers. Out of the trade we received Walt Williams, Carlos Rogers, and Kelvin Cato (well those who weren't waived). I would've loved have seen the Rockets maybe have gotten Jermaine O'Neal (he is really tearing it up in Indy right now), or Bonzi Wells (he really is a good bench player). I just feel that Portland got the better of that trade. But I guess what goes around comes around, we did get the better of the trade with Drexler trade back in '95.

The salary cap implications of the trade is why we won the trade. We can probably sign both Anderson and Taylor (if we want to) after this year because of this trade.

Can't we just say that both teams won the trade in their own way? Because I think that's the case. The only way the Rockets lose is if they could have squeezed someone better out of Portland (ala O'Neal), but I'm not sure if they had the leverage to do that.

Didn't you mean, the only way the Blazers lose, is if Houston could have squeezed out a better player?

Any trade to get rid of that cancer, quitten, is a win for the Rockets.

Yeah, I can't tell you how much I want Quitten with his 17 million dollar contract and his 6 points a game. I'd take Walt, Cato, Rogers over him in a heartbeat. Not to mention Anderson and Taylor, who long-term couldn't be had with Pippen's contract. I think it's one of the best moves we've ever made. As for what you were saying, it's all speculation. Portland knows O'Neal's potential. They have all along. They wouldn't just throw him in- it took a Dale Davis type guy to get him. As for Bonzi Wells- the last thing we need is another guard.

Walt has won a couple games for us this year. This is getting old, we all should be really happy with the trade. I would have given Pippen away.

Some of you make it sound like Scottie is a consistent 18 pt, 8 reb, 7 ast type player. He isn't.

Let's not forget that Jermaine O'Neal was picking some major splinters out of his rear end at the time of the trade, he hadn't showed in any way that he was ready to play in the NBA.

Bonzi Wells was a rookie last year, he was not available for us to take in the trade (also see the note about us not needing more guards!).
