Would it be a slap in the face to trade Parsons to land that 3rd star?

Under Morey everyone's an asset. Harden is tradeable. Make no mistake until we get Lebron everyone is tradeable.

Maybe, but I think he'll try to unload the bigger contracts like Asik and Lin before bev.If we go after LMA it'll most likely Asik and a bunch of first rounders .

It makes little sense for Parsons numbers to go down given his skillset. He is an elite off the ball talent, and a mediocre to poor on the ball player (we're talking 1.3 ppp vs 0.75 ppp here). Howard creates more shots that suit him (slashing on defensive rotation breakdown, open 3's) and less that don't (have to create your own).

The person who is most likely to regress without significant improvement (granted it seems to be all he's working on right now) is Lin.

Fixed* I couldn't care less about Moreys guilt of trading him. I'm telling you right now that we have a better shot at a championship with Parsons production with the less than a mil that he puts on our salary. Morey snubbed Josh Smith so he could have enough to resign Chandler long term. That fact was reported. And you don't have to be an insider to understand that we have a top-10 (easily) starting center to deal first. Quote me on this!! Chandler will not be traded this year... Rosters can change and injuries can occur but as of right now he's going no where...

I think for the most part, there's a general change in direction from the front office, but people think we're still in the star or bust mode. Your first star is worth so much that sacrificing the team short term will always lead to long term gains, whereas once you have two, that third one is nice, but if it requires sacrificing short and possibly long term production it's a bad move.

That's why Chandler won't be moved, or even in most likelihood extended until at least 2015 if we don't add the third guy this year.

Just a thought before we start this trade Parsons thing. What if Chandler becomes that 3rd star? No one really knows his ceiling yet.

i never said he'd be traded this year. in fact, in a previous post i wrote that he's just as expendable as everyone else once he get's paid his big contract, which obviously isn't this year.

He has the potential, and I'm pretty much against trading him under any circumstances, but if LMA is available, oh man, I'm not sure Parsons is worth passing up an elite level power forward for. Dwight/Harden/LMA is just too beastly to not go all in.

We're building a dynasty - Dwight has said that he doesn't expect to win a championship this year at all. We can wait for our young core to coalesce and grow through this season and patiently through the next.

Terrence Jones will probably be a solid starting PF by next season.

Kevin Love and LMA will be looking for new contracts at the end of the 2014/2015 season.

Sign one of those two names outright and retain Parsons with his Bird Rights then fill the roster with key veteran minimum signings and that's the most impressive championship roster of anybody in the 2015/2016 season moving forward.

One guy who can determine Parsons fate is Fegan (his agent). If he plays hardball with the Rockets, Parsons is gone. Currently, his agent is probaly saying Parsons should make at least more than Lin, or Asik. I still believe Dwight and Harden will have a say if he goes. This year likely a feeling out season, but if the Rockets struggle mightily (I severely hope not), Chandler will be expendable unless he plays like the 2nd star.

It's a fact that Morey passed on JSmoove to resign Chandler? This was only according to David Baumann of Sports Talk Florida who claimed that a "source" told him. I guess it's now safe to assume sources like Broussard from ESPN are legit...let alone Sports Talk Florida. Here's the article, btw.

I think Howard would demand a trade if we traded Parsons.

Yup, if anything Morey should've taught us over the years that nobody except the best of the best is untouchable.

    Exactly!

This would be ideal but not realistic. By then, Howard is in his third year here and I think there is a good chance he bolts again and we would then have to 'settle' for a core of Parsons / Harden / Aldridge without Dwight.

Which 3rd star could we trade Parsons for? And why would we trade Parsons when he's the only proven "clutch" player on our team right now?

Make no mistake. I think Lin's points will be under 10 as well. I think Dwight will score around 20 points per game. The Rockets will play at a slower pace so maybe around 100 points per game instead of 105. I think Howard's points will come from Asik, Parsons and Lin mainly and Harden to a lesser extent.

Lin and Parsons to score around 10 points per game. Asik around 5 points, harden around 24.

Depends what star we got. We would need a top tier guard for the salary difference to be worth it. I don't think packaging him for LMA would cut it for me because we would improve the PF spot less than we would regress the SF spot.
