I really like Thaddeus Young and was trying to do some research into his advanced stats when I came across this right away. http://www.nj.com/sixers/index.ssf/2013/07/thaddeus_young_sixers_trade.html It discusses the possibility of trading Young, which is interesting but then it got very interesting with this section: The salaries match, which doesn't exactly mean it would be a straight up deal but as far as value goes, straight up might be a fair trade. Here is the author's description of Young, which gives a pretty good explanation of why he would fit next to Howard: He's great at getting to the basket and has loads of athleticism. His mid-range game is pretty average. He can hit an open 15-18 footer, which is about all we need if he isn't a 3-point specialist. What are your thoughts on Thaddeus Young and if you'd like this move?
Don't need another undersized PF, and certainly not one that cant shoot. I like his defense and his energy, but we can do better...especially for Asik.
Thad Young lived in Houston for awhile. I don't know if he still lives here now off season. I spoke with him at work one day a few years ago. His wife and his brother were in the office then, as well.
This guy used to torch the Rockets back in the day when Scola was around. Real quick and athletic for a PF. Terrence Jones sort of reminds me of him a little. Which is why I really want to give both Jones and D-Mo another shot the first half of the season. Young is on a pretty sizable contract that would hamper the Rockets from making a move for a 3rd all-star. He's an upgrade, but enough of one to give up major assets just for that minor upgrade.... especially when it does look like a real quality all-star player could be had with those assets if the Rockets just wait and hold on a half to full year for something to drop.
I wish I could agree with that, but really the only big asset we have is Asik. Our picks aren't worth all that much since we'll be good (even better if we net a 3rd all-star in that trade). Unless you mean moving Parsons as well, I don't see us realistically getting an all-star no matter what we move as sad as that makes me to say. James Harden was a once in a lifetime perfect storm.
There is a sense on here that sometimes we are homers and overvalue the Rockets assets. It looks good on paper that the Rockets have all of their first round picks to offer in trade, but I agree their value is diminished a little being that Houston is going to be a playoff team. If the Rockets were to trade for a borderline all-star type of player its going to take a few things to happen- A. That player needs to be close, or getting close to becoming a free agent soon B. They need to have an agent that can help broker a deal between teams. C. The Rockets might have to send Omer to a third team that then sends assets to the team that actually has said player. D. The Rockets might have to give up THREE first round picks with very little protection E. At least one or more of Jones, D-Mo, Smith, Canaan, or Beverley would be going in the deal as well. Its not going to be easy to acquire a player like this, but I think they will be able to pull the trigger here in the next 6 months to a year on a player I and many other people here have in mind. The timing looks like it will be perfect, and that player has already openly expressed his desire to play in Houston. I think "this guy" is worth waiting a bit to see if he can be had. Im not ready to settle on a Thaddeus Young type just yet. Morey can do better even if he has to give up more.
if u thought delonte was bad, just wait till this cat sleeps with every rocket's mom and ruins our great team chemistry
maybe....... maybe not. There are a few guys Im keeping my eye out for as well. I really dont like going out and saying X guy is the answer cause afterwards you get 20 replies of why that guy is a bad idea when I was just using X player as an example of the type of player you are putting in your hypothetical situation. Its better if you just use a hypothetical borderline all-star, not quite superstar player in that example just for sake of keeping an open mind and preparing for anything.
I don't know why people think Portland is just going to give up LMA like they're tanking or something. There team is loaded with talent and is young and I honestly think they're better than New Orleans and will be the 8 seed out west with a lineup of Lillard Wes Matthews Batum Aldridge Robin Lopez bench CJ Mccollum JJ Hickson Dorrell Wright Thomas Robinson Allen Crabbe(top Pac 12 best player last year) Meyers Leonard That lineup has a tremendous top 8 and they're really nice on the bench with Mccollum,Hickson,Dorrell Wright......and I know T-Rob sucked with us but the guy was a top 5 pick a year ago so if he pans out, look out. I don't see portland giving up, they've got a billionaire owner, a tough arena to play in and will find the talent.
