Did you expect them to take the whole team? Harden and Parsons had a prior relationship with Howard. Hakeem, Clyde, Les, DM, and a couple of other front office types were there also. Yao on Skype and recorded messages from Deke and Roger Clemens. You're reading way too much into it. And even if you're right so what? This is a business...
What are you talking about? We got at least two more years of this, probably more. By that time most of the ABJs / LOHs would've dropped their basketballs and discovered girls.
Does Morey usually tell players they're getting traded before it happens? I can't see that happening unless a trade is made.
I think it wasn't a big secret that the team was shopping asik and lin and found no satisfactory deals.
That's different than actually being told by the GM that they are trying to trade you before any deal is made, which I don't think any GM would do unless they have a deal.
ehh neither was Beverley. Parsons just looks like he infused himself into it. In the end the only player that mattered was Harden. Does anyone seriously think he would've went back to LA if Parsons wasnt on this team? Doubt it.
Rep. This is so good to see. Howard should make things a lot easier for him. Why can't the season just start already?
Good point. No doubt Parson did a good job because Howard acknowledged him. It's clear from his press conference and SAS interview that at the end of the day, it's playing with Harden and a good young core that tipped the scale.
Don't underestimate the lure of having a guy like McHale who had the best footwork of any big man in the leagues history.
Why? It was just rumors, nothing confirmed by the Morey, who actually denied it. So to tell him/Asik would just create unnecessary problems, when a deal can't be made.
Whats morey going to say? yep I was shopping them and I got no satisfactory deals? When he said I've been over ruled and the players want lin and asik back means yes I was shopping them and they over ruled me.
here you go, hope his 3 pt shooting next year will not be like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQf9xuAkfMk
No. Read the transcript of the 790 Radio interview the day after the pitch to Dwight? When the interviewer asked Morey specifically about shopping Lin and Asik, Morey said that he'd heard those rumors and they were not true. They had only received calls from teams interested in Lin and Asik and he told them that they were NOT AVAILABLE. So every can posit what they like about whether this is true or not until the day after Dwight's meeting when he publicly stated "Stop f****** calling, they are NOT AVAILABLE" to the whole league. I think the Josh Smith idea was an either/or not Dwingt AND. Also Morey probably made his mind up about keeping Asik and Lin and they were part of the pitch to Dwight since he came out the day after and said they were NOT AVAILABLE. Or Dwight and Harden (probably Parsons too) told Morey in the meeting "we want Asik and Lin" that's why Morey came out the next day and said Lin and Asik are NOT AVAILABLE.
For sure, if Dwight wants a change at PG, or at any positions, Rockets will do it. Remember how C.Paul ran the Clippers, I believe Dwight may not have that type of authority, but I think the Rockets more likely than not will listen to what Dwight demands. I think sticking with the same team will be better in the long-haul.
lol @ believing Daryl Morey on player movement They're available, but he wants to keep Asik as part of a 3rd star deal, and there's really nothing left on the market re : Lin (and he might be necessary in order to absorb a bad contract)
Definitely agreed. When you have a rebound king inside, you will have more confident launching the ball from the perimeter. Now, we just need Asik to stay.
