    Houston In: Greg Monroe
Houston Out: Omer Asik, D-Mo, 2015 1st Round Pick, 2014 2nd Round Pick

Boston In: Omer Asik, Brandon Knight, D-Mo, HOU 2015 1st Round Pick, HOU (from NY) 2014 2nd Round Pick
    Boston Out: Rajon Rondo

    Detroit In: Rajon Rondo
Detroit Out: Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight

Why Houston does it: Monroe is one of the most underrated young players in the league. He put up borderline all-star numbers the past couple season, and would be a fantastic fit next to Howard. He's a skilled big man that is a fantastic passer and can hit the mid-range to clear the lane up for Howard's power game. Also, Greg Monroe is 23. 23.

Why Boston does it: They are in rebuild mode and have also made it very clear that they need a center and a rock in defense. They get that in Asik. Brandon Knight is a pretty good young prospect at point (8th overall 2011). They get a couple picks as well, which is attractive in a rebuilding phase. (They aren't tanking per se, so getting a piece like Asik is VERY important)

Why Detroit does it: They are clearly trying to win now and have made their interest in Rondo apparent. This is a way to get him without giving up Drummond who's their most prized asset. They have a PF in Josh Smith (potential SF, but he's much better at PF). Rondo makes them legitimate if Drummond comes into his own this year. Otherwise they have zero backcourt. This way they have one of the best floor generals in the league, and he improves their defense which is a clear priority of this team with the moves being made.

I could see this being a fit for all parties. People may think we're giving up too much, but most people over-value our players and don't realize how skewed trades are on this site. Even this might be somewhat skewed. Thoughts? Would this have a shot?

Ain't no way the Celts do this unless the trade deadline is coming up and Rondo is forcing his way out of town.

Why not? (Not disagreeing exactly, but I'd like to know why they wouldn't or what you think it would take)

No way Detroit does this deal. Dumars has been questionable at times, but he's not an idiot. They're not giving up 2 of their 3 young core players for Rondo. CP3 is a different story, but they missed the boat on that one already.

Rondo is a very good PG, but he is a terrible fit in Houston. And your proposition is borderline idiotic...

Brandon Kinght is not exactly "core". I could easily see him doing this deal. Right now they're in between rebuilding and competing. That's a bad spot to be and everyone knows it. This Josh Smith deal pretty much locked them into a win now mindset, and Rondo represents that. Boston is who I'm more worried about.

Because they won't give up Rondo for Asik + chewing gum. Unless Rondo forces them to do something after the season starts. It is more likely they get Monroe from Detroit and the Rockets are left out.

Don't want Rondo in Houston anyway. He's an uncoachable psycho.

Gerald Wallace would be a great fit at the 4 if paired with Rondo, Harden, Parsons and Dwight.

Above average D, great at finishing strong in transition and has a very good mid-range game.

    I'd make that move.

    Rondo/Bev/Canaan
    Harden
    Parsons/Garcia
    Wallace/Jones or Motie
    Howard/Smith

Give Boston Lin and Dmo/Tjo then let Detroit keep Knight

    Beverly/Canaan
    Harden/Garcia
    Parsons
    Monroe/Tjo or Dmo
    Howard/Smith

As we saw with Beverly, Morey can find point guard talent from nowhere...I wouldn't be worried if he trusted Canaan to be backup or if he found another diamond in the rough while Canaan is developing.

should be. but Rondo is not healthy yet. It will leave us with a hole in PG with Bev and Canaan, the rookie. Bev with his high intensity defensive pressure would send him into foul trouble more than we could hope for, and canaan is not ready yet. Better give him more time to develop.

Well, if I'm Boston, I'd much rather rebuild around Monroe than Asik. Monroe could still develop into a multiple All Star type. He's only 23. Not to mention, you have him for some 5 years (at least) where Asik could easily leave in 2 years.

I know you send some compensation Boston way, but it's not much. Donatas hasn't shown that he's going to be a starter in this league, the 1st and 2nd picks will both be late, i.e. scraps, throw ins.

So IF the Pistons do this deal, I definitely take Monroe+Knight and not look back. No reason to involve Houston. But I don't think the Pistons do this deal.
