I am a players' fan, being a Howard's fan forever as well as Lin's and Harden's. I came here because of Lin and stayed on because of both him and Harden in spite of the annoying back-stabbing fandom here. i am just really glad, no, overjoyed, to see that Dwight still has it in him from his Orlando days to know who is a good player to have around him. He may have had the reputation of being a coach killer, but he has always supported his teammates and had fun playing with his teammates. Morey's plan last year was to get both Lin and Dwight. Well now he has got them both. Let's see what they can do together. If things don't work out, then sure, trade one or both or all of them. But until then, I'd buckle down and enjoy watching the process and progress of this team.

What? We could roll out 40 year old Rafer Alston with our starting five and still win 50 games.

I don't know what you guys were watching last year, but Lin doesn't set up the offense.

What Howard wants is mostly irrelevant. Players play and coaches coach. Asik will certainly almost never be on the floor with Howard. As for Lin, well, it remains to be seen.

Nah, it's the haters that are upset since they thought the entire team agreed with them. "What? Our best players want to play with Lin? This can't be!"

Isn't that the case with every player ever? Tell me we wouldn't trade either Howard or Harden for Lebron.

Which is why we won all those games when Lin was sitting out the 4th quarter?

While Lin doesn't always get the chance to set up the offense, he's a pivotal part of how the ball gets distributed.

All this talk of the triangle made me think of Luc Longley too. 72 wins in a season and I watched nearly every single game.

What I like the most is that our team are getting together early and practicing... And healthy. Remember that last season we had a completely new team with three players added two days before the first game. Lin was still recovering from knee surgery, PPat had foot problems and McHale had to take a few weeks off. And we still made the playoffs!

Now we got our core back with the addition a 10 year veteran center. They are healthy and training together, working hard over this off season. McHale is working with Dwight from this Monday. I'm excited to see the development of our players and what plays McHale will implement.

Damn! I'm pumped for this season to start!

    Starting Line-up:

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Howard
    Asik

Harden wants a PG who doesn't mind he can ballhog from/ being a spot up shooter. If we trade for Rondo, he won't have a chance to ballhog as much as if we keep Lin.

I'm sure you can take out the Heat with 6 men on the court.

I think there were only hundreds of threads and thousands of posts complaining about how Harden and McHale conspired to make Lin into a spot up shooter.

Sure. Don't know and don't care about the conspiracy thingy, but there were times when all Lin amounted to was as a spot-up shooter.

On the other hand, I've also seen games where the team won convincingly when Lin was floor general. With or without his "best backcourt in the league" partner.

So there were games where the offense doesn't run through Lin (which were probably the game larsv8 watched). And there were games when the offense ran through him (which were probably the games I watched). The latter were some really gorgeous ones..... loved how the offense hummed when the team trashed the Clippers in Houston....

Hey man I don't think it's wise to act like you understand the triangle offense. It might seem simple to you in theory buy trust me its not. Phil Jackson is the only coach I know who has successfully used it and won with it.

I worked for the Mavs (cough cough puke) during the Quin Buckner /Jim Cleamons years. Both of those guys tried to install the triangle and both failed because the players could not successfully run it.

You could blame it on the players if you want but both Jason Kid and Jim Jackson were considered to have high basketball IQs.

You could blame it on the coaches if you want and I would agree with you on Quin Buckner, that was a huge joke of a hire. But Jim Cleamons at the time was seen as the next great coach, a prodigy of Phil Jackson with 3 championship rings with the Bulls. Neither of those guys had one ounce of luck installing the triangle and all I ever heard was how the players just could not grasp the concept.

I think the Triangle is a system that is not easy to install, run or even fully understand. I've never been a fan of "Big Chief Triangle" but he is exactly the type of cerebral coach that has the paitience to teach it, the understanding to explain it and is articulate enough so the players know what he means when he talks to them.

So please don't take this as me slamming you because I'm not, but I always kind of roll my eyes a little when I see someone on a message board act as if he has some sort of intimate knowledge of the triangle offense. Maybe you are that one guy but after having a little 1st hand knowledge with how difficult (the supposed very simple offense) really is for professionals, I find myself exceptionally skeptical.

Yes somethings will change indeed. But Harden will bring the ball up the floor, set up the offense at least 60% of the times. lol
