I think your post answers its own question, yes he's overpaid, but he's no Biedrins. It's not just the polarizing of Lin though, the rest of the roster is all underpaid, some drastically so he's also a giant outlier of an otherwise smooth as silk operation, like there's a desire to destroy the dissonance.
If Jeremy Lin traded places with Dragic last season and was the primary ball handler of the lowly Suns how much more inflated would his stats be? I would reasonably assume better than Dragic's numbers. Yet so many have an infatuation with Dragic even though he is 3 years older and posts almost similar numbers on a team where his stats were inflated.
Is Lin's contract an abomination? No. Is Lin's contract a total bargain winner ala CP25? No. Is it a decent contract? Yea, decent. It is on the lower end of Morey's standards, considering everybody else on the team is on a bargain deal. But the lower end of Morey's standards are still better than many other front offices. The fact that people consider him the worst contract just shows how good of a position the team is in.
I agree that Lin is only slightly overpaid. Here are the average salaries of some other point guards that are, IMO, better than Lin but are paid less. Stephen Curry ~3 mil a year George Hill ~8 mil a year Mike Conley ~8 mil a year Grievis Vasquez ~1.2 mil a year Ty Lawson ~1.7 mil a year Curry and Lawson don't really count because they are on their rookie contracts. Vasquez is only underpaid due to his crazy improvement over the last few years.
People will always see what they WANT to see. Lin is a Rocket at the moment and because of that I hope he has a great year. I think we will know by mid season if Lin is a keeper playing the PnR with Howard or needs to be dealt in a package for a player more suited for the new Harden/Howard era. Until then we should support ALL our players and hopefully we can see our team flourish and contend this year! (P.S) If he's overpaid it's Morey's fault, Lin merely did what anyone would do in his place, accept the best offer available. ....... ....... .......
What? Curry makes 11 mil a year. I clearly remember Lawson also signed a similarly huge contract. I know for certain neither are on their rookie deals still. Vasquez isn't nearly as good as his inflated assist numbers make him look, and Hill is honestly pretty terrible. Conley is definitely a lot better than Lin though.
At least this article isnt about Lin being traded so its a nice change of topics just other Lin battles. Guess the forums would be much quieter without Lin. You trolls would probably miss him too, all those arguments about how bad he was and how godly Beverly is. Kind of like this girlfriend you had that was crazy and you couldnt stand listening or the sight of her but once shes gone you start missing her.
Yeah you're right about Curry and Lawson. I just did a quick check on Spotrac but I guess those didn't include the contract extensions. My bad.
THIS. Argue what you want about the other players, but I strongly believe Dragic is not better than Jeremy.
He's overpaid relative to the Rockets' scale. If Lin's salary is around $5.5 ~ $6 million, I don't think there would be any threads littering this place about his salary. It's actually a bargain with that price.
Calderon's contract is ridiculous - I mean I understand teams overpay free agents, but that's going a bit overboard.
So the only thing you can do is to resort to labeling when you find people who disagree with you? You are weaker than a p***y cat.
