Does anyone have any advice or can help me in any way finding employment in Houston? I'll need it around the end of May when I move there. I am 18, a G.E.D, I have a few college courses under my belt from a local community college here in North Carolina. My actual job references aren't that convincing for the area I am in is very poor in businesses and job oppertuned-places. I am currently listed with a temporary-employment agency (Kelly Services) and I work at Sara Lee (factory) every once in a while. Other then that, I have helped my brother in-law with his home improvements business doing painting, pressure washing, roofing, ect. I'd rather get away from the home improvement business but I'm up for anything from home improvements to being a waitor. Anything that'll help me pay my bills and stay alive there in the west side of Htown.

    Thanks

    --Paul

I'm with you Paul. The Job Market sucks. Try the Texas Worksource
There is one at WestPark and 59.
    They are great
Nice computers, extensive job listings etc

    Rocket River
    I go there too often
    :(

I believe Enron is taking applications.

I hear the pay (if any) isn't good, but hey no one really matters anyway.

Apply for an internship anywhere. The experience helps, but no $bling bling$.

The Rockets are (or were) accepting applications for the new arena. All types of jobs I guess.

    Good luck though.

That's funny, they make you take a drug test just to wear a bunny suit all day. I think I would almost need to take some drugs just to get through the gig. ;)

Deliver Pizzas for one of the giants. 10-14 dollars an hour for driving around in your car.

i think he means giants in the pizza business like domino's, pizza hut, etc.

go work for voter/consumer research. i did for 6 weeks one summer. you call people and annoy them with survey questions. you get a whopping $7/hr and it's boring as hell. however, there are no qualifications needed. if you can read this paragraph they give you w/o making too many mistakes you're in. and bring magazines on the job, i got through a whole SI issue in one day of work. if you want a real job, don't work there.

Ah, my girlfriend works at Pizza Hut.... not worth it considering you have to use your own gas and pay for your own gas. In Houston, you'll easily burn a full tank a gas every night, if not more.
