I love Morey also, but he almost blew it with the Pau Gasol trade. That would have also led to us signing Nene. That would have been our two stars instead of James Harden and Dwight Howard. Thank God David Stern vetoed that trade. At the end of the day, the only ones crying about that trade not going down is The Lakers because they did not get CP3. I guess sometimes you do need some luck on your side

The Morey story rolls on. The parts that don't fit the narrative arc -- the Gasol attempt, the Bosh fail, the overpaying for Lin, the 9th place repeats -- are obligingly forgotten. Morey is a smart guy who tried everything he could think of and is now basking in the media's willingness to oversimplify the story, all because the drama in Lakerland went our way, and Howard wanted out.

Oh, well. Morey was criticized too much when luck went against him. I suppose he's entitled to be praised too much now that his luck has turned.

Except we, Morey included, should sheepishly be thanking Stern and the NBA for blocking the Gasol deal. That was biting the bullet, based on pressure from Les.

Though who knows...maybe Morey would've turned Nene into something of value.
