He spent five months of the offseason basically on bed rest. He wasn't even able to work out until what, a month before training camp?

When you're accustomed to dominating a game physically, and you can't prepare physically for an 82-game season, even when you get healthy you're going to look a step slower than usual.

I fully expect Dwight to be the player we saw in 2010-11 next year.

It took Miami big 3 damn near half a season to get things going and they were healthy the whole year in their 1st year.

People forget the Lakers were never healthy the entire year. They never were able to develop chemistry because they were barely together.

What a load of crap. What some people (who probably never played sport) forget is that if even if you take a break from training for 3 or 4 months, let alone due to a herniated disk, that break in weight training/conditioning/etc will have a hugely detrimental effect. It takes time to regain that strength.

It is very possible even without injury that howard is past his highest of high peak. Most centers after their 9th year in the league, their production takes a slight dip. Howard has been an iron man every year except one. Lot of minutes played and mileage on the body.

Though this is a time of better sports medicine where a player can squeeze out an extra year or 2. If anyone knows fitness and conditioning, its howard. Very reasonable chance he can maybe reclaim orlando form even just 1 year.

When do you think Hakeem's prime was? I think basketball is a sports of athleticism, but also a sports of wisdom. Howard is what, 27? He's far from passing his prime, in fact, I think he's now going to enter his prime after spending a prolonged time with legendary bigs like McHale and The Dream in Houston. I think he'll slowly develop his post game. By next couple years he'll enter his true potential with the new wisdom gained from the legends. Time will tell.

Howard should be 2-3 years younger then a typical big man that has played 9 years. When was Kevin Garnett or Moses Malone's prime. They both came straight from high school.

It's true that Dwight is past his prime. He's moved on to super prime now.
