I'm a poli sci major. We do a lot of math in our research. Maybe not "tough" or "soft", but poli sci, or at least part of it, is more scientific now.
I think it's interesting that you've found that more political science profs support the war. I've seen the opposite in my very limited experience with pol. sci. PhD's. Do you have any stats that they support the war, or even ones that indicate that they lean to the right? Or is this from your experience at school (which begs the question where you are taking your classes)?
Thank you, DD. Perhaps Finn* will feel like giving me an answer to the questions I posed directly to him on the first page of this thread. Hell, I'll take an answer from any lefty at this point.
A large majority in ANY department is pretty liberal. However, there seems to me to be some poli sci profs who at least see the Iraqi or any other foreign policy problem from different perspectives. They are very reluctant to give any overarching pronouncements on the developments. Poets, artists or English profs seem to be all post-modern, post-colonial zealots who see only evil in American power.
Semper Fi (Always Faithful).... thats the phrase Ive always associated with Marines and ex-Marines Ive known. To the man they are always proud of their service as US Marines. Mal-contents such as Chris White, who fixate on their percieved mal-treatment in boot camp..usually end their military stints in boot camp with General Discharges (unfit for military service) or Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharges. It's highly questionable Chris ever made Sargent...but if he did, it wasnt for long and it was a terrible mistake. His mental state while in the Marines may have been different..but now, Chris is clearly a Kook, and could never get out of boot camp with less than an Undesireable Discharge.
