So typical...a thread about finding a third star got derailed by the All About Jeremy crowd. (ABJ)

I never said we can't win a title by filling out good players around Harden and Howard. In fact, I specifically stated that we can.

But yes, I believe if you put a gun to Morey's head and ask him if he'd rather have the current group or build his own team starting with Howard/Harden, and one of Love/Aldridge(whichever he finds to be better), he'll choose 3 stars and grab role players from exceptions, vet minimums, and draft picks.

I think it's a racial thing with Parsons and its stupid because he has serious game! White Man Can Jump

Parsons is a great player but what makes you think he won't be going for the max contract once his rookie contract is over? Why go for the slightly above MLE which is what he is probably worth when there are probably several other teams that will offer him more money? Parsons will go for the money even if it's the bobcats offering him more money rather than stay for less with the rocket at this stage of his young career.

I'd rather have a win now attitude and fine a premium veteran star player to support Harden and Howard. Not that I don't like parsons but you have to give up some potential in order to get something good in return. With Lin obviously teams saw his playoff potential and got turned off.

I definitely agree with your general sentiment. We do not have to become the MIami Heat v2.0 and I don't see Chandler as your average role player.

But if we plan on playing against that Big 3 in the Finals with their role players coming off the bench (for the most part all revered players at some point in their careers) we need to build up our bench as well as adding a 3rd star to our core, WITHOUT losing the talents of Chandler Parsons.

I believe it can be done this season. We will just have to be patient and wait for the wanna bes to regress and show they are not even playoff worthy. Asik is awesome but we all know he will not be with us past this next season or two.

We need to bring in one more star and solidify our bench, not only to make the Finals but to beat the Heat in the Finals. That's my way of thinking.

I know my basketball seal. I got league pass. You gotta show some conservativeness my young grasshopper. Stevie franchise was a stud for the first 3 seasons or so. IT went downhill since then. Parsons is a stud the first couple seasons as well but nothing is guaranteed in his future. Yes he has potential but he's good sacrifice imo to get a star if need be. IF we could keep him while adding the 3rd star, then super.

Morey needs to pull some more strings, and quick. Before all the other good players are signed up. Don't act like it's not needed or not easy because the clippers did it. Do you think Doc Rivers was a free agent when they rang him up?

It's not my job to look at the who's who of the top free agents on the market. If i was getting paid morey money with a GM's role I would do it with analytics 24/7 gladly. All i know is iggy and josh smith got signed up and there are a lot of good vets being amnestied and could potentially be support that I would respect. I would feel more safer with Tmac or Metta World Peace or Odom signed to the vets minimum warming the bench rather than the likes of Reggie Jackson or Casppi's because I never heard of these chaps before.

We don't have a reggie jackson. Artest ,T-Mac and Odom suck now, again with the name over performance. I am glad you would feel "more safer" with them though.

Iguodala plays Harden and Parsons position, and Smoove is grossly overpaid for his actual value. Just saying add some big name is stupid unless there is an attainable one that would really help, our roster is rock solid as is.

And we have Parsons bird rights, we can pay him how ever much we want.

As someone else mentioned, it's imperative that we get a 3rd star without losing Parsons. He's the ideal glue guy for a championship squad- good shooter, good defender, good ball-handler, good vision, great size. Thanks to his terrible contract, as long as we get that 3rd star before Chandler is up for renegotiating, we will be able to dip into the luxury tax area to resign him and keep a ridiculous core together.

Wait, so you just said it is Morey's job to find good players through the use of his analytics, but then you'd rather he just pick up meh players who happen to used to be famous? And other players you've never heard of are presumably worse? Right after you said it is Morey's job to use analytics to find the good players...I'm sorry, mind blown

I'm starting to agree that you just like players who have big names, esp. ones past their prime :p

Morey has a great track record for "nobody" players who turn out amazing, like Beverley, Delfino, etc.

At this moment, any 3rd star joining rox will be via trade where Asik is the focal point and not Parsons. So who knows what the future may bring.

But on a side note, anyone saw the how happy CP3 is when he introduce Redick. Thats what I think rox need. A specialist who is great at one skill, not a star. There is only 1 ball on court and thats why Bosh suffers.

Bosh had the highest 16-23 feet fg% in the nba, I wonder if he's great at one skill.

Whatever happens we have dwight and harden. Thats a huge amount of excitement for everyy rocket fan post yao and tmac being 5 years stuck in mediocrity. Morey finally gets some luck in getting harden and now dwight

Nice job completely derailing a quality thread. You're always adamant about people "hating" hating on Jeremy and here you go interjecting him into the conversation knowing full well what would happen. You're exactly what you say you hate.

Why can't we keep the team together, as is more or less, for 2 seasons, and when Lin and Asik's deal expires, we should have close to max level cap room left. With the tiny cap hold of Parsons and Bev, we could work around it and sign both back using their Bird Rights to larger deals, right?

And that shot is exactly what we need to spread the floor for our team to work. I think that player can be found for much less than max contract also...

Oh that is interesting. Anyone know what the cap hold for Parsons or Bev should be in 2016? I see in 2015 it is around $1.8M for both, which is very "circumventable."

    I'm w this guy.

Screw the 3rd star talk. We're going to have a bad ass team next year. Dwight's impact and the improvement of THE YOUNGEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE last year will certainly be worth while.

After landing Harden & DH in 9 months, maybe we're getting a little greedy on the expectations?
